Congratulations for such great cartridge, and for developing the complementary software! Big smile

It's important to mention in the page description that this is an RS-232v2 SRAM cartridge, so it's better than the usual RS-232v1 people are used to, because:

1) It's faster than the v1.
2) More than one can be connected at the same time without trouble, because their I/O is memory-mapped. OTOH, no more than RS-232v1 interfaces can be connected to the same machine because their I/O ports will conflict and this can even damage them.

There's also another type of RS-232 interface: The RS232v2 DMA. It's the faster of the official ones because it has DMA, and the only one I know of this kind is the ASCII RS-232 cartridge.

I recently got this cartridge in the mail and a USB to RS232 cable too, but I'm having some trouble getting it to work. Although the sending Basic commands works fine, i can't transfer or retrieve files between my PC and MSX. If i try, the Bitcom software just hangs and so does the MSX.

I have a loopback plug and tried RSTEST.BAS and that worked fine. So i know the cartridge is working with no problems

I suspect its the the USB to serial cable I'm using, but the wiring between the usb connector and rs232 matches the null modem pinout that this cartridge requires. I even installed the latest drivers from this place http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

No clue what to try else besides find another cable. Anyone know a USB to RS232 cables that works with the HBI232mkII?

BITcom software seems to not work with Usb-Rs232 adapter.
Perhaps a driver problem ' Actually i have no clue to fix the problem.... Crying

What setup do you have exactly? I'm also using it with a USB-RS232 adapter and I don't have any problems. On the non-MSX side it's plugged to a Linux machine (a Raspberry Pi) and on the MSX side I'm using ERIX as the terminal software.

@Javi if I understood correctly Rolins had problem only with BITcom software. He said Basic function works correctly...

My PC is running Windows 7 64bit with Bitcom software to communicate with my MSX. I'm testing on two MSX computers: Yamaha CX5M and Panasonic FS-A1mkII. Both models are giving me the same problems with the USB cable.

I just got a error message today after the Bitcom software closes unexpectedly from hitting F1 key.
