i know this is on the faq and there are multiple topics about it, but i want to know for sure before i buy stuff.

I want to buy an external floppy usb drive and connect it to my pc to put diskfiles on it to use on my msx2. It has a 720kb drive.

But are new floppy drives usable? Because these are 1,44mb?

some drives support 720K and some not. you can't make it work with 720K floppies if it is not supported. so you have to check specs of drive and/or ask seller the questions before buying. or google for some list of 720K compatible drives (i guess there should be one created by hobbyists)

If it won't work on Windows 10, then you could also use a virtual Windows XP with USB support to make it work anyways, bit of a work a round, but might be a plan B ;-)

I got it to work in windows 10 perfectly. I installed nec drivers and from then it just worked. I’ve already tested the disks on my msx.

Great! ;-)
What exact model of USB floppy drive do you use? Because mine won't work, maybe I can find the same as yours and make it also work.

It’s an Iomega BXXU0130.
