The keyboard of my NMS 8250 is acting up. As soon as I plug it in, strange keys are being typed on the screen; some keys seem to work; other keys display 3 letters at once. My NMS 8250 has been boxed up for over 3 years, so my guess is that the keyboard has become dusty or the contacts have gone bad. Any suggestions on how to solve this? Or would it be better just to get another keyboard?

This is simple keyboard - keys, several diodes. If it was boxed well there should be no extra dust inside.
You can open keyboard and inspect it. Cleaning al always good - but be careful not to damage contacts physically and with cleaning tools/liguids. If you have multimeter measure voltrop on the diodes inside the keyboard, and inside the machine (DN101-DN108). If all will look ok then try another known good kayboard (if you have one I would take it as a first step). Then let us know your findings and results.

Hello mates!... I have a 8250 too and the issue of the keyboard is something that oftens come to my head. My keyboard works ok, but i would like to have an alternative or some spare keyboard, thinking in the day the keyboard passes away. Anyone knows if there is more keyboards compatible with the Phillips ones or if its possible to adapt another external keyboard for the 8250 without an adapter cartridge....i would be great that an direct adapter gadget would exist...some thing like the "ps2 to usb" converters for the Pc mouses and keyboards...." PS2 to MSX" cable, without using a cartridge !!

This works great...
With a Microsoft PC keyboard I did not experience key ghosting, so you can play games with key combos which go wrong on several other brands of keyboards....
