Got my slotexpander from dosvualdo. Basically it works ok, but I have a few questions concerning dfferent cartridges:

1. scenario: SD Interface 2.2 (latest bios) in slot 1 (the slot facing up on the Philips) + slotexpander in slot 2 (the slot in the back of the Philips) = SD Interface does not work (hangs when accessing the sd card)
2. scenario: Slotexpander in slot 1, SD Interface in one of the 4 slots of the expander = SD Interface works ok Smile
3. scenario: Slotexpander in slot 1,  SD Interface in one slot of the slot expander, FM-Pac in another slot of the slotexpander and Megaflash SCC+ in another slot of the slotexpander = FM-pac is not recognized (tested with various games). MegaFlash works however Smile
4. scenario: Slotexpander in slot 1, FM-Pac in slot 2, SD Interface in one of the slot expander slot and Megaflash SCC+ in another slotexpander slot = FMPac works ok Smile

My questions: Why does the FMPac not work (is not recognized) in the slotexpander? And more importantly, why does the SD Interface not work in the internal slot(s)?

Running a NMS8235 with 256K RAM and a 720 floppy.

Thanks again fellows Smile

NMS8235? Is it possibly a VG8235 or NMS8245, I have never seem a NMS8235.

In case of VG8235, which type is it /00, /02 or /20 ? I seem to remember one kind was missing slot-buffers, which might explain why it is not supporting the SD interface on internal slot (just a wild guess).

Greetings,

Jan

It's a VG8235/00 indeed Smile Sorry about the mistake. Also, just to clarify: Sd Inteface works fine in the internal slot(s) if the slot expander is not hooked up.

i know the Gilbert GDOS SLOT EXPANDER have some restrictions

see the Gilberto Test

- Memoria 2Mb ram esterna (Gouda)                   negli slot n.0, 1, 2, 3
- FMPAK cartuccia (Gouda)                                negli slot n.0, 1, 2, 3
- Music Module (Philips)                                       negli slot n.0, 1, 2, 3
- MoonSound OPL4 (Henrik Gilvad)                    negli slot n.0, 1, 2, 3
- SCANNER cartuccia (Gouda)                           negli slot n.0, 1, 2, 3
- Interfaccia IDE (Henrik Gilvad)                           negli slot n.0, 1, 2, 3
- Cartucce giochi (Hyper Sport, Mouser)               negli slot n.0, 1, 2, 3

I thought that the results above mean that basically everything works ok with the expander.  Or have I completely misunderstood something (again)? ;D

not to specify if is a crossed test with several cartridges or just only one peripheral at the same time Wink

Ahh, ok, of course. How stupid of me oO

To add into the scenarios... The only setup I can make all the cartridges work (Sd interface, megaflash SCC+, FM-pac), is the following:

Slotexpander in slot 1 (facing up on the Philips), SD-Interface + Megaflash scc+ in one of the slotexpander slots and FM-pac in the slot2 of Philips (the slot in the back). It seems that anywhere else FM-pac makes sd-interface hang/FM-pac is not recognised.
