I saw this auction on ebay: http://www.ebay.it/itm/Msx-2-msx2-philips-computer-atari-com...
Can someone tell me if there is something i can use to upgrade my VG-8235 with 720k drive?
Maybe Ram?

Thanks

If you want to build in a 720kb drive, you will need a new diskrom and double sided drive.
Also you have to do a little modification of the diskdrive cable and make some extra connections on the mainboard.

I have a drive and a rom if you are interested.

720Kb Drive = € 25,-
Fast Diskrom Double Sided = € 10,-

I already have the 720drive built in.
I was considering the parts available on ebay for a ram upgrade or something like this.

After the upgrade my msx now have a strange video output with a video distorsiOn during the drive activity.
Has someone a suggestion to solve my video problems? Has someone any idea if the parts on ebay could be useful for any upgrade of my msx?
Has someone any offer as luppie did?

@luppie
Thanks for your offer but i already have a 720k drive. Have you other offer for my msx?

Regards

I heard it's due to the power supply. But I forgot the details. It's something with the original drive using 12V and the new one only 5V, causing too much load on the 5V part of the PSU.

Oh, in that case you need a LM7805 and a 10 uF & 100uF capacitor to create a 5V line from the existing 12V line.
I think these parts are cheaper then buying this auction.

Thanks guys for your help.
What about adding 128k ram to my msx? How can i do this and where can i find the necessary stuff?
Can i add msx.music or a v9958 with msx2plus roms?
Someone told me is not possible due to the one-chip solution of my msx

Of course it's possible, did you already check the pages of bas-ditta.info or search a bit?

I saw a strange video output for monitor in my beloved msx2 vg-8235.
It's similar to a din-8.
Do you know if exist a cable from this port to VGA that is compatible with modern LCD ?

@Manuel
I'll look for on bas-ditta. The problem is that i'm not so able in self-making modding!!

Thanks anyway

Thank you.
So 've tried to open the MSX case.
I removed 3 screws at the back side and 2 screw from the bottom side.

The cover move, but ther is something left: the cover does'.t move at the center, downside of the two "LOCK" buttons of the keyboard. Could someone help me? The manual of bas-ditta shows the MSX already opened

If your msx 8235 is in front of you
The kyeboard towards you
Five screws loose then push lhe keyboard position keys towards yourself
Then lift the uppercase carefully There are notches for securing
there are wires for reset, power grounding
