Hi,

I'm completely new to the MSX scene and yesterday I got a Philips VG 8235/20 for a really good price.
The disk drive is not working properly because the drive belt is gone.
So I wanted to replace the disk drive with my gotek HxC-emulator.
I think I need to replace the System ROM for that. Could you help me with a modified ROM Image with Doublesided support?
I have a eprom burner and will get the needed eprom for it (27c512? )

Thanks in advance! Sorry for my bad english because I'm from germany Smile

the 8235/20 is the same of 8235/39 with a QWERTY keyboard
on /39 for 720k i use the 8245 eprom but is AZERTY
search the QWERTY version
the original 8245 rom is a 128k and contain AZERTY and QWERTY version

Thanks for the reply. I still haven't found the correct ROM Sad Do I just have to write the 8245 ROM on a 27c512?

Ok so the new ROM works in my msx. But my Gotek HxC doesn't work properly. When I try to load a Disk from it my msx always tells me "Disk offline". A DD 720k Disk Drive works without problems.

Could it be a problem because my Gotek HxC is the 1,44 MB one? Jumpers on it are set to JA (ready-signal), S0 and M0.

Sorry to ressurect an old thread but I am trying to attach a Gotek to 8235/20.
I have the correct ROMs and I have soldered on the two wires as indicated in this link.
I've also rewired the connector as to this link for the 1.44mb disk as well as the 720k.
I'm using Flash Floppy 2.13.
I have the Jumper set to S0 and have tried JA and Mo but non of the jumper or cable settings seem to work.
Does anyone have any advice as to what may be going wrong?
Has anyone managed to get a Gotek working on a 8235/20?

I've managed to get it working this morning with the help of Bas Kornalijnslijper. I've tried the same cable setup as yours, but it didn't work. Then i found a cable schema made by Hans Otten and i got it somewhat working, but had many strange things happening (could get a directory, but couldn't load anything but sometimes autoexec.bas loaded).

I contacted Bas and he helped me out big time! If you go to his site and get the document "Inbouw 720 kB diskdrive in Philips VG 8235/20", there is a cable adjustment in it. Take a good look on which pin the adjusted connector goes on the PC drive or Gotek (Pin 1 goes on the second top pin from the left).

Flashed the Gotek with an USB-A to USB-A cable with the latest flash floppy and have set it to DS0.
