I just tried v9sw.com /5 but still black/white on the s-video output .. (and the composit video output)

Then I guess the Graphics9000 only supports NTSC output on S-Video and composite. V9938 only has an NTSC encoder built-in, outputting a PAL signal requires separate circuitry, I guess it’s the same for V9990. A black/white screen is what happens when you connect an NTSC composite / S-Video output to a PAL TV.

Use RGB (SCART) in stead, it can handle both 50 and 60 Hz on nearly all TVs. Video quality is better too.

Then it seems that I have to solder a cable Wink .. question still is .. do I have to use a SCART or is it possible to connect to a VGA monitor ...

This is de PIN layout.. there is something with VGA .. but I do not understand what they mean.

I think you are right : On the specifications I see only NTSC:

Saída de vídeo composto (NTSC/60hz)
• Saida S-VIDEO (NTSC/60hz)
• Conector com vários sinais (RGB/15khz, Csync, Ys, 21Mhz entre outros)

• 512Kb de VRAM (Dual Port Sam) de acesso extremamente rápido
• Display de até 32.768 cores simultâneas (sem ser “truncada” como é o YJK.)
• 64 Paletes de um conjunto de 32.768 cores. Os níveis de R, G e B podem variar de 0 a 31 (no V9938 e no V9958 esses níveis variam de 0 a 7)
• Interlace
• Overscan (tela cheia)
• Scroll fino na vertical e na horizontal
• Comandos de hardware muitos mais rápidos e avançados
• Acesso rápido aos registros e a VRam (sem “gargalos”)
• Possui varias screens do V9938 e V9958 (5,6,7,8,10,11 e 12), porém com muito mais páginas. A Screen5 por exemplo, tem 16 páginas!
• Possibilidade de scroll vertical em até 16 páginas e scroll horizontal em até 8 páginas
• Resoluções de: 256 x 212, 384 x 240, 512 x 212, 768 x 240 entre outras
• O número de Sprites sobe para 256 e podem ser exibidos simultaneamente até 125 deles na tela e até 16 na mesma linha
• Os sprites são formados por 16 x 16 pontos e cada ponto pode ter uma cor diferente (o que não é possível nos V9938 e V9958)
• Modos gráficos para jogos (Tiled mode): ◦ P1 e P2, são dois modos gráficos especialmente indicados para jogos, pois são modos Tiled (blocos de 8x8 semelhante às screens 1 e 2)
◦ P1 : Tem uma resolução de 256x212 com a possibilidade de display de até 2 planos simultâneos (dual plane) com scroll independente para cada plano
◦ O modo P1 tem as mesma características da screen 5 (256x212 com 16 cores) só que "Tiled"
◦ No modo P2 a resolução é de 512x212 com apenas 1 plano e 16 cores, similar à screen7

I think just like the V9938’s RGB output it depends on whether your VGA monitor supports a 15 kHz signal. (Most don’t.) If so, yes, if no, it will only work in the B6 mode. Best way to know is to try!

(Although actually, I’m not sure if the B6 mode works at all on the Graphics9000… I vaguely recall that it needs a separate timing crystal which was omitted for cost saving reasons.)

I have an old VGA Philips monitor still here (Philips desXcape15) ..... So in my case I have to create a special cable to a SCART (to my MSX monitor) or a special VGA cable ? (only if my monitor supports 15 kHz ?)

Yes .. that would be the first choice! However if I can connect it to my (old) VGA monitor it will give better picture quality ? Or is this not the case ?

I don't know, but I really really really doubt that monitor will support 15kHz, so probably you should forget about it.
