Tonight I´ve made a case for my RaspPi3 and installed Retropie w/ Blue- and fMSX.
I´d used a old Atari2600 case in that style we´d emptied old Konami cartridges in the 90s. Don´t want to speak about that

Haha, nice looking Pi!

How good is the playing experience?, there's no OpenMSX for Pi?, BlueMSX is enough; but fMSX is getting old...

Retropie uses retroarch. fmsx and Bluemsx have been ported to libretro but openmsx has not. You can however add openmsx, and set it as the default msx emulator, but it will not inherit any of the retroarch settings. So any settings you change in retroarch will not effect openmsx.

The Pi does a better gaming feeling than my MacBook does.

When I tested, well.... fmsx experience sucked. OpenMSX I think did a bit better. Still, way far away from an MSX. This happens with other emulators on the RetroPie, so it's not a criticism to openmsx.

But, hey, you can have lot of machines with lot of games on your pocket. Imagine that with real machines Tongue
So you can have a bit of fun with it after all. Then, if you like a game that is being badly handicaped by playing on the emulator, imagine the same game on a real machine (as long as you have -or can get- one!). Sure it would worth a try to play it at full power. Face

i have installed openMSX separate from emustation/retropi... retropi seems to butcher the MSX experience (can't use the keyboard for typing etc. etc.)

overall openMSX runs like it does on any device with 60fps (even aleste 2 on a turbo-r)

Blue MSX doesn´t feature the keyboard.
No F1/Pause key in Konami games, no password screen in Gallious, no transceiver in Metal Gear. fMSX features the Fkeys, but lacks with the 2nd action button. Maybeeee there waits a solution in the settings, didnt found that.
I´ve tried out eddy2, only fMSX opens the programm, ´cause _eddy is written in F2.
I think one of the secrets of the MSX is it stay at home, don´t want to be played in the bus or touched in an café. That makes it unique today.

About that café thing you mentioned. MSX lunatic Nyyrikki already mentioned he likes to drag his MSX to crazy places.

Bravo for him for creating MSX awareness!

By the way, is that him on this picture? The guy with the msx t-shirt, the 2 litters beer glass and the viking helmet?
If he is, he has become my new msx idol! (even more than he already was, for being the best msx coder that has ever existed).
