But I seriously love this model Sad. I hate those models that look like typewriters or bulging left or right or ugly. If you have advice for model that is pweaty like this one BUT HAVE TWO CARTRIDGE ports where I need an external hard drive or disk drive via cartridge port...I am all ears! I don't want one where disk drive is internal...

Please do not try to convince me with one where disk drive is internal...I will refuse it.

Thanks!

Ghe. Good thinking Smile Diskdrives are stuff from the past, so no need for them indeed.
But the machine to choose is your choice. Just don't stare yourself blinde on one rare machine you might never have Wink
Have a look around in our wiki and make a top 3, or maybe 5 or even larger in case you run into models of your liking which you didn't know of up to now.
That way you broaden your chance of finding a machine that fits you while you might run into your favorite machine somewhere in the future. You can always sell your second choice once you get your wish ;)

You can find them occasionally on Yahoo auction in Japan and use a proxy company to buy it for you and ship it to you.

There is one on there now but it may or may not work: https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/d351704813

It is only confirmed that power light turns on. It can mean the seller has no understanding of the hardware or it means they have tested it and it was not working...

The problem with Sanyo it not the missing floppy disk drive. This one is not very useful nowadays. The problem of Sanyo is the quality of the material often not as good as the concurrency. Philips MSX resisting the least time are models manufactured by Sanyo (facade that crumbles, problem with external sound chip, etc). The most robust MSXs are probably those from National / Panasonic.

A floppy disk drive is required only to read floppy disks with copy protection.

FDD can be also required to update a disk interface and format its disk but if you take an interface with Nextor inside, the formatting problem disappears and the update can be done if you have a MegaFlashRom SCC+SD with its recovery mode (or another interface in addition).

I understand where you are coming from gdx, but I love that sexy computer. I don't care if it's materials are inferior and in time it will fail. I will just get another of that model and so forth. To me that Wavy style in my opinion IS WHAT MSX is all about...it is like the same sexy style of Commodore 64c or Amiga 500 or to some people even Amiga 3000D. That wavy style MSX is what I will put in showcase in stores and no other models but it. Everything from color, touch, feel, style....seeeexxxy!

I agree with you! The Wavy 1 , MPC-2300 and Wavy 23 have a nice design. I like especially this one:

I like too much the Sakhr AX-230 red although the keyboard is not black. About quality, several models are of very good and I don't know them all.

Heheh! THAT IS ONE SEXY BAAAAABBYY!! heheheh I remember I saw the skhr AX-230 red in saudi arabia and I was moaning and wishing I had it. I think when I was a boy I believed it was superior over my old Sakhr white version that got fried because my brother removed the cartridge while it was powered on.
