Still.... There is no info about that Sony machine! The above (last 2) pics came from Michel Shuqair, AFAIK, he posted about it in this forum. But alas, nothing about the Sony...
What is so special about the VG-8240 ? Was it just a VG-8235-20 (v2.0 ?) with the external CD-ROM interface + case or something ?
Or was it a prototype for the NMS-8245 and had a DS-drive ?
No, single sided drive, but with super-impose, 2 scarts
But, why was it never released? I guess it was a pre-8280 prototype and they decided to go "NMS" and make the superimposing MSX2 their top model after the 8250?
Simply fantastic! Found other evidences about Philips and CD-ROM:

I have this Philips CDR-X1000 drive.
I don't know how it works, i don't have a MSX or a NMS-0210 interface cable.
I wonder, how could i get a NMS-0210 interface cable?

Very nice to see an sasi cd rom player
I 'm curious of the serial number of it.
It doesnt have a serial number.
Actually, i have 3 CDRX1000 units. 2 regular production models, one prototype:

The 2nd CDRX1000 unit differs from the 1th, it has the connector at the bottom:

They all power on, eject works, but since i dont have the right computer and interface cable, i can not test them..
