Does someone here own an original unmodified Sony HB-G900AP?

I wonder whether the ROMs are different from the HB-G900P...

From an emulation point of view, I think it's similar to the G900P, except that slot 3 is expanded and has 512kB memory mapper in subslot 0 and it has an S1985. But are the ROMs the same? Are there any other differences?

For that I need help!

Hi Manuel,

I have one :) Will try to dump the ROMs when I'll have time (or remind me if I do not).

I think that for the systems where your missing data, such as missing ROM dumps that we should have a header at the top of the relevant WIKI page asking for help with a link directing them to the forum for assistance.

I created a couple of templates. for HELP, HINT, NOTE and WARN.

You can use them (hoping the forums will not mess this up) as follows:

{{HELP|For this system we are lacking a ROM dump. If you have access to this system and can assist, please check out [link]}}

HELP has a yellow background
NOTE has a light brown background
HINT has a green background
WARN has a red background

Louthrax: if you dump, please dump the full 64kB of all subslots. That should give enough info about the memory and ROMs.

Well done! Smile Now Manuel can not say anymore that the Wiki visitors could be able to not see the remark about guessed configs! In the same time, it's a good way to ask help from the visitors!

Looks great rderooy! I did wonder about the used terminology for the slot map. It says:
Bank C000h~FFFFh
Bank 8000h~BFFFh
Bank 4000h~7FFFh
Bank 0000h~3FFFh

What I'm used to is to call it page 0, 1, 2, 3. For 8kB ROMs it's perhaps useful to split up a row in 2 halves?
It's also a question whether to start with 0 at the bottom or with 0 at the top Smile The Sony HB-G900AP service manual uses 0 at the top for instance. But MSXMEM uses 0 at the bottom. So I guess it's a matter of taste.
Yamaha (in the CX5MII service manual) starts with 0 at the bottom too. And only for the main memory it speaks about page 0, 1, 2, 3. For the other slots you only see memory addresses. Still it does explain terminoloy:

Quote:

Page.... Block of memory (maximum 16KB) in each slot. A slot is divided into 4 pages.

Anyway, just minor feedback. It's a great idea to have all this technical/slot info on the wiki!

No, because it is the slots map. On each 16k memory bank we can only select a 16k page (from a slot on same bank). Calling it page 0, 1, 2, 3 saves space but it does not make sense and it causes confusion for many people

It does make sense to me Tongue

I've never seen it called 'bank' by the way.

Anyway, is the slot map about memory layout or about which 16kB blocks you can select?
