Stripey video on Yamaha CX5

I bought a Yamaha CX5mII last year and finally got around to plugging it in today. I am using the Video out to a monitor with an RCA video which came with the computer. I have a stripey display which I would assume is not normal.
Has anyone had experience of a similar problem? I know little about this computer but have built computers over the years from Z80s etc.
Thanks for any help,
Dave

Maybe a dram (vram) problem?

I am not familiar with the CX5MII specifically but check if there is a switch between the RF an Video out. On my CX7 it is there and it is not a channel switch for the RF (which I assumed at first) but it is a color/bw switch for the video out.

Yep I have the B/w - colour switch on mine. I'm planning to open up the unit this week. I have a spare Japanese version of this computer, so I should be able to swap the video PCBs and see if that fixes things. If so at least I know what board to work on.

I took the video ram PCB out of my CX7 and put it into the CX5 and this fixed the striping problem. It makes sense as it looked like a bit stuck on. I'll have a better look at the old PCB later this week.
I damaged the flex cable on the keyboard during all these shenanigans, so I put the CX7 keyboard module in for now.

Thanks for the ideas guys,
Dave
