Thinking about getting a Panasonic 2+, but is it worth it?

I currently have a Sony hb700p but I'm thinking about getting a msx 2+, to be exactly a Panasonic 2+ because of the turbo mode. But is the slightly more speed worth it or might I as well get a other 2+?

I hardly ever take the effort to put it on. Since the PSG's pitch is coupled and the turbo mode is not twice as high the pitch goes up but not exactly one octave. Konami and Microcabin games (for example) sound like poop... As for performance... There is some, but you'll have more if you put 7MHz in your Sony. Then you have a physical switch, since the Panasonic 2+ machines don't (gotta out some values to two addresses).

Being a big Panasonic 2+ and tR fan I do urge you to buy one. Just be aware of the things mentioned above.
One more thing. Somehow I think the WX is the most complete one if you care for cassette ports. The WSX does not have this to make place for an S-VHS port. Well, it's technically still there but it's mixed with the RGB connector (or so I've been told). Leave the FX since this one doesn't have MSX-Music on board. I do like its color design though.

[nitpicker modus]Actually this is an S-Video port. This type of port just happened to be introduced first on some S-VHS recorders Tongue [/nitpicker modus]

@meits: The FX is in my opinion the best looking Pana msx2+ as well. And I don't mind the lack of FM since I'm used to having a slotexpander hooked up with fmpac in it.
Offcourse I'd rather go for a Tr, but my god... those prices have gone way up the last couple of years. Sad

External MSX-MUSIC might not be a bad idea... At least WX is suffering from a bit weird MSX-MUSIC ROM related problem that causes some older European games / disk magazines / demos / music disks to crash during startup. It is not a big thing and technically it is the software that we should blame, but a problem is a problem and it is the user who then needs to tweak around it. (Ok, original FM-PAC also on some rare cases needs to be activated with _MUSIC before loading a game, so that might not be 100% fool proof either) I anyway think that bigger problem is that these computers were originally shipped out with only 64KB RAM mounted on board... that is a bit sad.

BTW My opinion is also that FX is the real beauty... it looks like a sports car. Smile

I would vote for Panasonic. I have the WX model and I am quite happy with it. It's easy to mod for 220v and more memory. Besides, I like the Turbo-R look of it. Smile

The FX is the next one I'm going to buy. It's a beautiful machine.
Please consider the advertisement of Daniel which I posted a yesterday. It's worth its price. He takes tremendous care of what he sells and gives good service. There's even already 512KB installed.
