Ultra rare SVI-828

Hi,

Sorry, this is only partially MSX related, but I think most of us know that in 1986 Spectravideo released SVI-838 X'press 16, but now after I stumbled in to this picture, I started to believe that in 1987 they also released SVI-828 X'press 16P... Does anyone have more information to share? When comparing these SVI-838 and SVI-828 pictures, the motherboard seems quite different.

Maybe... Or maybe model with HDD? (Only guessing here) I wonder what the sockets are... Are those to add V9938 VRAM or maybe to extend RAM beyond 256kB?

I was indeed intrigued by the different logos in front. But was it sold as SVI-828 or does this reference appear only on the PCB ????

I have no idea... I have newer seen this 16P-model IRL or heard any stories of where or how it was sold.

According this forum, the P is for PAL with composite video output on the mainboard .... but I still have doubts ...

Indeed, I doubt this a bit... Composite video output was B/W in 838 and the 50Hz/60Hz could be controlled by software, so the whole PAL/NTSC had no really any meaning on it... If this 16P produced color PAL picture then this could explain some part of the story. It would be really nice to get some good pictures of the PCB as it anyway seems to be very different compared to traditional 838. From the visible area only parts on same location seems to be ISA connector and screw hole.

Under the ISA connector is marked ver. 2.0
The superimpose is missing on this version.

Ok... So is the V9938 missing completely or does it have dedicated video connector?

What I can See is that it has Yamaha Cga Chip.
Probably it has a ntsc video output from 9938.
Dual monitor ?
