What is the best computer for MSX, MSX2, MSX2+ and MSX turbo R ?

MSX: I don't feel attracted to Panasonic MSX1 at all! Look for National ones (National was a Matsushita corp. brand just as Panasonic) http://www.msxzone.com/index.cgi?id=msx&menu=msxmachinegalle...
MSX2: FS-A1F - Good and sturdy layout - except for that pesky top slot cover - and built in 720k floppy drive. There's a A1FM version, which has built in floppy drive and Modem (if it was a Serial port instead of a modem that would be my choice). If you don't care/want a floppy disk, there's the A1MK2 version.
MSX2+: FS-A1WSX - Every Panasonic MSX2+ have same layout, but this one have built in FM chip, 5.38MHz turbo and s-video output. The A1FX is prettier, but it lacks the internal FM, the S-Video out and some keys on keyboard (which doesn't make any difference to non-japanese software) The A1WX has the FM and the keyboard, but not the S-Video out. I'm not sure about the A1FM having the 5.38MHz turbo.

About non-Panasonic made MSX, there's simply too much options, some as good as Panasonic and some even better (like I said, I don't feel attracted to any Panasonic MSX1):

- Sony: Some of the most interesting MSX computers (and peripherals) were made by Sony, no one can deny that fact. If I'm supposed to choose just one of any Sony machines, I'd probably go with the HB-F900 (with it's HBI-900 video creator of course).
- Sanyo: They're known here in Brazil for having "the best keyboard that a MSX computer could possibly have". And if you don't want to mess with Sony nor Panasonic, it was the only option left to have a MSX2+. The PHC-70FD2 was the only MSX2+ with two disk drives, and if I'm not mistaken, their MSX2+ disk drives were direct drive ones (without that pesky drive rubber belts) http://www.msxzone.com/index.cgi?id=msx&menu=msxmachinegalle...
- Toshiba: I'm pretty attracted with the idea of owning a Toshiba machine nowadays. they're, as far as I know, the only machines with true stereo PSG output, and one of the few that has RGB output even on MSX1 models. If I'm supposed to choose just one of any Toshiba machines, I'd probably go with either HX-22 or HX-23 (MSX1 and MSX2 respectively) with the RS-232C board installed.
- Yamaha: Well, What can I say? if it wasn't the SFG-01/05 sound modules, they won't be in this list, as they require a special slot to work. Good quality machines, but nothing special (besides the SFG-05). The SFG-01/05 is a YM-2151 OPM chip which is a FM Synthesizer with different sound capabilities than a OPL (or OPN/OPP/OPQ/OPU/OPX/OPZ) chip. It was used on some arcade machines (specially SEGA ones), and Sharp X1 and X68000 computers. http://www.msxzone.com/index.cgi?id=msx&menu=msxmachinegalle... Of course the SFG could be ported to a 50-pin bus cartridge, or an 60-to-50-pin adapter could be made, but Yamaha machines aren't bad at all, just not unique.
- Philips: I'm not sure if I would care about any Philips machine rather than it's (International QWERTY) keyboard layout. It is the best keyboard layout you could possibly find on a MSX machine, and uses the same keyboards of Sanyo machines (Aren't Philips MSX2 Sanyo made anyway? I'm pretty sure they have Sanyo's signature on their boards) Anyway, if someday I buy another Philips machine, (I had a VG-8020/00, which was Kyocera made, and traded it with a friend) the fist thing I'll do is mod it to work at 60hz by default, because any MSX should be default at 60hz. http://www.msxzone.com/index.cgi?id=msx&menu=msxmachinegalle... Yamaha MSX2 YIS805/128 forever!
Also Yamaha MSX2 YIS503III is not bad, but if you have FDD.
I also like my Sony MSX2+ (F1-XV) for speed controller.

The best for me:

MSX1: Yamaha CX11 (RGB, very expandable)
MSX2: Yamaha CX7M-128 (RGB, very expandable)
MSX2+: Panasonic FS-A1WSX

The worst:

MSX1: Philips NMS-800 (it's a castrated MSX from Italy)
MSX2: Canon V-25 (single cartridge Slot, 64K Vram only)
MSX2+: Sanyo Wavy35 PHC-35J

I dont own a fs-a1 but I kinda like the small form factor. Is there anything particulary bad about that model or do you say its horrible just because of its looks?

FS-A1 has only 64k RAM which can't be expanded. The keyboard is kinda awful, the module port lid keeps falling off. Plenty of compatibility problems with expansions.
