Guys,

while setting up an inventory of all MSX computers und HW components I inherited, I got stuck with one device I could not identify ... browsing the HW Wiki didn't help either.

Obviously this is not an official component, but a purpose built device made in Germany. I found it attached to a MSX2.

Any idea what it is for?

Many thanks in advance!
Andreas

Nice find. I own the same cartridge. It is designed to remote control video recorders with the appropriate remote jack.

This looks like the Network Interface Card SVI-709.

It is certainly not a widespread module. The shell seems to be stolen from SVI, but the inner one does not indicate mass production. It was delivered with video software. I still have software and the manual, but please spare me the walk into my catacombs.
From the inside it should look like this:

What's the name of this device? We could add it to the wiki if there was more information.

hamlet, gdx,

many thanks for taking care of this matter!

These are the cables that were in the same box as the Sony MSX2 and this device:

Ja, I have the same cables. Mine came with a Sony HBG900D. You are able to controll a special type of vcr with this device. Pretty obsolete but as I mentioned I do have a manual and software for this device, I will investigate later that year and feed the wiki. Smile
