Oh, isn't it just the following letter after "L"? And N is the letter after that? i strongly doubt it has a meaning related to MSX.
The Yamaha CX5M was one of the first occurrences of Yamaha’s YM2151 OPM. So I’m not saying it’s so, but it’s not entirely unlikely either.
