  1. Download KdL firmware from here: http://www.webalice.it/gnogni/

Currently there are both 3.2 and 3.2.1 builds. The 3.2.1 one is the latest but it does not contain the full package and only has a small MoonSound OPL4 fix, so I recommend to use the 3.2 one for now.

  2. Extract the firmware pack with 7zip (Windows) or Keka (Mac) or some other unzip program that supports 7z.
  3. Plug the SD card into your PC. Create a new folder called “kdl” or any other name you like (max 8 characters). I’m assuming this SD card already contains a working partition with MSX-DOS2 files on it.
  4. Go to the “ocm-pld v3.2/firmware” folder in the extracted 7zip archive and copy “pldflash.com” to the “kdl” folder on the SD card. Also read the “howto.txt” file there.
  5. Go to the “ocm-pld v3.2/firmware/zemmixneo_uk/msx2plus_znlogo” folder in the extracted 7zip archive and copy “emsx_top.pld” to the “kdl” folder on the SD card.

As you can see from the path, this is the Zemmix Neo build of the KdL firmware for UK keyboard layout, with MSX 2+ support and the nice Zemmix Neo logo.

  6. Now the “kdl” folder contains two files: “pldflash.com” and “emsx_top.pld”.
  7. Eject (unmount) the SD card in your operating system, and then pull the SD card out of the computer and plug it into the Zemmix Neo.
  8. On the Zemmix Neo, navigate to the “kdl” directory (cd kdl) and enter the command pldflash emsx_top.pld. Now the firmware will flash and show progress while it is doing so. Do not touch the power while it is flashing.
  9. When it is done, it will return to the DOS prompt, and you can safely turn off the Zemmix Neo.
  10. Turn the Zemmix Neo on again, it is now updated.

For future reference, once firmware 3.3 or later is released, the process will be similar but you’ll have to use the 3.3 directories, etc.

now, the lists in the individual folders (msx rom 1, msx disk 1,etc)
is not updated

how do I update that?

also how to load a disk via dos command?

Tutankham also works for me, same dip switch configuration as ericb.

By the way can you tell me where to download Neo Loader?

To load disks use ep.com. Don’t know the exact parameters, but if you run it without any parameters it’ll probably tell you.

Ah, if you use composite you need to have different switches… this set-up is for VGA connection. For Composite set both switches 2 and 3 to off.

See the document “ocm-pld v3.2/docs/dip-sw user manual v3.2.pdf” for a description of what the dip switches do.
