How big is the "submit news" backlog?
Quite huge at the moment, with 20+ posts and 10+ downloads waiting to be processed. Real Life, eh....
Anyone interested in joining the glamorous world of MRC content management?
Not really ;-) I do have to much free time at the moment, but I have this will change soon ;-) Besides that: My writing skills aren't good enough anyway.
For the rest: Real life is overrated And the queue isn't getting any shorter this way
I think you'd better ask for access in that thread or send them an e-mail ;-)
I also entered a news-submit. I think it has been close to 3 weeks ago. Sorry to say, but 3 weeks no updates in this site is not a matter of "personal life", but a matter of priority & interest. And MSX.ORG doesn't seem to be high on that list (at the moment)...
Well, I can imagine people/staff have also become a bit demotivated because of all the shit going on here / in the 'scene' in the last half year or so?
(But this is about WMSX, let's not deviate any further (here).. )
Absolutely true. But not working on the site, isn't the solution. The queue's will only get longer. And news becomes "old news", but that's it. The hurdle to start again will only become higher the longer you wait.
True. Though not sure what the status is of the team..
AFAIC everyone is allowed to slack, or 'drop the ball' at times..
But yeah, it's been a while. And no action in 3 weeks doesn't seem to rhyme with a staff of 9.. (according to /about-us).
Well yeah, let's just enjoy ourselves! ;)

That is my point exactly. Of course, real life is way more important then this site. But if no-one of this crew has found the time/interest to do something about the news submits or downloads...
Then real life is not the cause... Lack of interest is...
Fastest way would be to submit it 'post-ready', meaning written in proper English, with decent formatting, hyperlinking, adding a proper image with the proper size/ratio if it's really newsworthy news such as a product release etc. Then all it requires is one or two clicks from one of the admins. Which is still something that needs to be done manually, but a queue stacking up is mostly related to stuff that needs writing or editing from an admin. Dunno whether the concept of trusted users still works, if so, a trusted user could also handle such news.
@wolf_ Yeah, can understand processing half-baked news submits can be tedious work..
Don't know if it's easy to reject a submit + give reason, so submitter may improve the post himself?
The easiest way except for submitting the news as an item, which gets basically now ignored because of the huge backlog, is to just share the news item in the forums and social media like Facebook and Twitter.

Snout, count me in. I'm willing and able. It's the least I can do, considering all the years I've been using MRC for free. Best way to get the queue done is by wearing a glamorous MSX shirt. Wish I had one...
