Hi everyone,

I'm Jasper from the Netherlands and I've just joined the site. I haven't really been MSX'ing for the past 20 years or so, but MSX has always been close to my heart. I still have my Spectravideo 728 and Philips 8235, although they are at my parents place right now.

Last week I finally copied all my floppies to my pc. Those single sided disks gave me a headache, but I finally got the job done with good old dcopy and an old laptop. So I started sorting my disks, browsing the web for information, visited the site a lot (I had been here before though) and I decided to sign up.

It's great to see MSX still alive. I'm impressed with openmsx. It plays all my games without problems. Including for instance speech of Oh Shit or Jet Bomber. Great job for the developers!

I'm also exploring software from the past decades. I was happy to find translations of Konami classics like Parodius. And I was blown away by the Manbow 2 game. Wow.

There's a lot more to explore. See you around!

It must be mind blowing to see what your MSX can do now with the soft- and hardware from the last 20 years!

Welcome back, Jasper. Emulators have come a long way since the heady days of CJS MSX. OpenMSX is absolutely unparalleled in hardware support, and if you want ease of use and simplicity you can't go wrong with WebMSX. People never really stopped doing stuff for MSX, and you'll probably also have a lot of fun with the games people have been putting out the last decades. Don't be afraid to ask around.

And when we are finally free from this pandemic situation, take the time to attend to the nearest MSX meeting. You'll surely meet a lot of interesting folks and, maybe, contemplate into the fascinating rabbit hole that is playing on real MSX hardware. Wink

The only MSX Jasper I know/knew made an SCC detection routine for me in 1999 or so... does that happen to be you?
