I purchased a beautiful 55" Sony Bravia late last year, with built in Playstation NOW. I had an email today that Sony will longer be supporting it, sound familiar?

Important PlayStation™ Now Update
You will not be able to use your PlayStation™Now subscription (“PlayStation™Now”) on PlayStation®3, PlayStation®Vita, PlayStation®TV, Samsung Smart TVs, Sony Bravia TVs (2014-2016*) and Sony Blu-Ray players from 15th August 2017 or on select Sony Bravia TV 2016 models** from 15th May 2017 (the “Affected Devices”). You will still be able to access hundreds of PS3 games on PlayStation™Now on PS4 and PC.

After those dates you can continue to use your PlayStation™Now subscription on PS4 and PC.

If you want to ensure your subscription does not lapse, do not cancel it and check you have sufficient wallet funds to pay the recurring subscription fees or, if you do not have sufficient wallet funds, that auto-funding is set to on in your account settings and you have a valid payment method registered to your account.
A quick reminder that you can cancel your subscription at any time so that it expires when your next monthly subscription fee is due. Often thought that our system is a ancestor of the XBox (MS loves the X) and the Playstation.

As much as i like the consoles mentioned.. imho they have nothing to do with msx or whatsover because they are proprietary gaming consoles.

MSX is a standard of HOME computers.

MSX is a standart of HOME computers.
With a lot of gaming cartridges.
The Magnavox Odysee i.e. do have a build in keyboard, but is a console.
But I agree with you. I don´t care about PSN or Bravia based problems. There are a lot other forums to post.

I use my PS for gaming the MSX collections which I can use with that fantastic PS controllers.
It´s nice to look back and see that Philips and Panasonic really wanted to believe in video game standarts and also Sony wanted to support Nintendo with a cd rom. In my opinion Microsofts first X was in MSX, than after in XBox. Of course they have nothing in common, but that´s history like a lot of our hobby is.

It's pretty lame Sony ends this service as quickly as it started it.

They did this with their PS Mobile service a few years back as well.

oh sorry I didn't meant to say he shouldn't post it on the forum.

I was referring to you and him saying these consoles were successors of the msx, which (in my opinion) is not the case. I would say PC's have more in common with the old MSX philosophy (anyone can make them, backwards compatible, expandable).

Anyway a bit offtopic myself now, sorry Big smile

Thats how I always explain MSX to someone who hasnt even heard of it..

"it was the first attempt to create the standard that IBM/PC compatibles later became"

well, sort of... MSX had less differentiation in components so most programs (games) pretty much "run as they should" without too much deviation, whereas on pc it can be wildly different.

My 2 cents:

- Hardware wise, the closest consoles to the MSX are, in sequence: ColecoVision, SG-1000, Master System and the Megadrive. The Master System is like a 2nd degree cousin. Smile

- Old philosophy wise, the modern PCs and the Androids indeed have more in common: have an Hardware Abstraction Layer, there are many different makers, backward compatible etc
