I've never seen this box before. But... it took me less then 5 minutes to find the answer. Unless this same huge inlay was used for other games as well.

Which is what I suspect because the image that peeks out from below the box does not match the image I found...

I underestimated you!
Every submitted solution was right! Respect for so much MSX knowledge!

Look at this!

ren IIII-I I-III
John Hassink IIIIII IIIIII II
Meits III-II IIIII
dan IIIIII -IIII
gdx -I--I- -IIII
Manuel -I-III ----I
tfh -I--∏I I-I-I
Pencioner -I--I- --I--
sdsnatcher73 -IIIII -IIII
TheKid ----I- -I-II

Time for me to hand over the responsibility to others again!

Day 12
This is a quest from Manuel, I'm sure you like it!
How low can you get?

This picture is only an example and serves exclusively to illustrate this task.

Directly after the start of the BASIC our beloved computers have at most 28815 bytes free. Due to less built-in memory or some cartridges this sum can be a bit smaller. Who can construct the start screen with the lowest free bytes of memory gets a point today.
All built MSX computers are allowed to be combined with all available extensions, also slot-expanders.
Add lots of stuff, but not too much, so you end up in booted BASIC with minimum RAM. It seems very relevant which disk drive interface or other cartridge is used to get to this minimum.
Find the combination that gives minimum RAM but working BASIC!

Send your list of added cartridges and the resulting number of bytes to DieAntwoord@gmx.net on thursday 12th.
If there are more than one lowest numbers, all of those will get one point.
Have fun, see ya tomorrow!

Knowledge? Well... If it wasn't for the very clear "made in France" hint, I would have never ever gotten a right answer. BTW, did have a box of Murder on the Atlanic underneeth this inlay?

As for the quest of today... Since I don't have the hardware I'll go and fiddle around with OpenMSX a bit. I wonder if I can get to the result with Catapult. I'm not planning on messing arround with a CLI.
