I don't really see a reason to use this device in openMSX as openMSX can load ROMs and DSK files by default. openMSX handles DSK files even better than megaflashromscc+sd.

The reason was to get a feel of how it works, how to make multiroms, just play with it a bit before ordering.

It’s nice how emulator support improves hardware sales, rather than reduce it Smile. Indeed for the user, he can try it out like a demo version before purchasing the hardware, but also for software development for the hardware it’s a big benefit to have it emulated.

Speaking from personal experience here Smile. The MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD support in openMSX was for example very handy to test the dual PSG functionality in VGMPlay, and although I could test on the real device, it also helps to ensure the feature continues to work as I change the code in the future, because now it’s always easy for me to test and confirm that it’s working.

Without emulators, I don’t think I would still be developing so much for MSX.

Same here and to add: without emulators I would have never started developing on MSX.

Can someone help me a bit to find out what's going wrong with Bubble Bobble on MFRSCC+SD in openMSX?
Are there more examples, Louthrax?

Guillian, perhaps you have an idea what could be wrong? Any hints?

Maybe from a gamer prespective, it could be interesing too... I was thinking about having openMSX with a big MFRSCC+SD image including a big load of games + SofaRun. No need to use Catapult or anything else, just a reset button would be welcome.

Have to check that again but I'm busy with MegaRAM now...

Depends. Does the game run and only show corrupted graphics? If so it is most propably a ROM mapper related problem. The game cannot retrieve its gfx data from the right block.

It runs with corrupted graphic, at least the title screen. As soon as I press the spacebar it resets.
It's most likely a ROM mapper issue indeed as it does work when I patch the rom with konami mapper addresses.

I do not know how the flashing tool detects the mapper type but thats where the problem propably is. So we need to find out how the flashing tool detects the mapper type. Where to does it read write and what does it do. From there its analyzing the differences.
