Hi Guys,
How could i set the OpenMSX so it loads faster from floppy drive. As i test and program a lot lately i use the virtual floppy drive to build the project and run it from there in the emulator. It works fine, but loading takes ages. Is it possible to improve the floppy loading speed only?

Thanks a lot!

Try the fullspeedwhenloading setting.

This setting will make openMSX run at fast forward speed when it's loading from tape or floppy drive. There's no way to make the floppy drive go faster without breaking the emulation (and there is not a setting which can do that).

Thanks for you help as always! To bad only this option is there. As building to a directory in Quigs, which is the floppy drive on the MSX cost a lot of time for loading every time i want to test something.

Manuel, You mean the floppy drive emulation gets bad when this option is ON?

What I do in my build scripts is, I start openMSX with a TCL script:

openmsx -machine Panasonic_FS-A1GT -script openmsx.tcl

Which does something like this:

set throttle off
after time 12 "set throttle on"

Tune the wait time to match the duration of the boot-up sequence.

This is an essential quality of life improvement for me, improving iteration times because I don’t have to wait for the system logo and OS initialisation every time. Smile

Look at the speed percentage, it should go up while loading.
