Manuel, in your link in that post, the compressed file systemsroms.zip was not there when I accessed it in the first time the other day, I searched the other folders and found nothing. Today, I accessed the link and found the file and downloaded it.

I now understood your argument about where to put systemroms and extensions (Disk ROMs) .. In Raspbian, it worked as I said in my posts. In openMSX under retropie, it worked as you said (your systemroms folder contain machines, extensions and misc) I tried at first putting their contents in the corresponding folders under openmsx/share/ and it didn't work. Then, I tried putting systemroms contents in share/systemroms/ and it worked.

So, we were both right.

Thanks man.

It always works if you put the systemroms in share/systemroms. openMSX will find them using the checksums from the hardware description files (that define machines and extensions).
If you do it like you said, as I explained before, you are overriding this mechanism and force openMSX to pick the file you put there, ignoring the checksum.

Both methods always work, but we recommend using the first method, as we did our best to confirm that the proper system ROMs checksums are in the hardware description files, so that the emulation works as intended (with the proper system ROMs).

By the way, you probably overlooked that zip, as it is there for several years...

hmmm, I noted that systemroms file date, dated back to 2017, overlooked that several times when accessing the link, I don't know how! but the important thing is that I found it and saved it in my storage HDD for the future.

Probably when I used Disk ROMs with not compatible sha1 sum, that effected the whole emulator and probably that was the reason that it didn't work when putting it in systemroms, and worked when putting it in extensions, now I got the correct files with correct sha1 sum and it worked both ways.

I got no problems now with openMSX under RetroPie. Left Raspbian since it crashed and failed to boot after several times of using, probably it's my sdcard, I don't know.

Thanks for the feedback and help..

Great to hear that everything is running fine now!

Using different disk ROMs doesn't affect the emulator. Only the extensions that use that disk ROM. If you put the wrong ROM in the extensions folder, it will still be used even if you put the right ROMs in the share/systemroms folder.
