Well, as I said, you can control what's in hda with Catapult, too. Under "hard disk image".

Note that nowadays (openMSX 0.14.0 or later), openMSX also supports the preflashed MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD. Just download the preflash ROM file from the MSX Cartridge Shop site ("openMSX ROM") and put it in your systemROM folder. This only applies if you haven't flashed the MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD yet. But it will save you many of the steps from that tutorial...

Yuup. Something to mention in that guide.

A nice caveat indeed when you already ran the extension once without the ROM.

You get the following message:

Quote:

This flash device (MegaFlashROM_SCC+_SD) has initial content specified, but this content was not loaded, because there was already content found and loaded from persistent storage. However, this content is blank (it was probably created automatically when the specified initial content could not be loaded when this device was used for the first time). If you still wish to load the specified initial content, please remove the blank persistent storage file: [...]/openMSX/persistent/MegaFlashROM_SCC+_SD/untitled1/megaflashromsccplussd.sram

Perhaps an idea to mention one should manually setup/flash the MFR (see guide), or otherwise use the preflashed ROM with SHA1 1621f623b834dc57cb2983f30b36bcc3ac56cafd ?

I'll adjust the message a bit. It was already a challenge to make a clear message...

EDIT:
Basically, the message says you are already using that preflashed ROM, but that there was already ROM content created. I'm not sure how I can make this even clearer.

The message is printed from the flash emulation code. It doesn't know where it is used (so that it is about a MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD which you need to set up). A bit tricky to make things a bit more specific.
