Otherwise MSXDOS2 wouldn't boot either, and that boots.

Fur future reference
Looking at the boot-order I found that nextor saw 3 HD's. One being 720KB(?????), and two of 25MB.
It looked like nextor couldn't decide which disk to boot from, failed from A: and fell back to basic.
placing an empty file nextor.dat in the root of the HD solved that issue.

But Nextor 2.1 Alpha is unstable in this situation. The file ls.com (comes with MSX-C) hangs the system. DIR | MORE, hangs the system.

You are using the latest version of the kernel?

Yup, but 2.0.1 seems to behave stable. No hangs in 12 hour.

If I remember correctly, ls.com also hangs on msxdos2 with fat16.
It's to bad, because I always type ls instead of dir by accident Eek!

Hello,

I'm sorry to re-open this old question, but don't understand how to use the Nextor-2.1.0.SunriseIDE.rom instead of the Original DOS2 Sunrise IDE

Here my actual configuration I'm Using With standard Sunrise IDE :

ext ide
hda openMSX/new-hd.dsk
diskmanipulator format hda1
diskmanipulator import hda1 $CONTENT_FOLDER
diskmanipulator import hda2 dsk2/

I made a new nextor.xml configuration file based on the ide.xml, where I replaced the ide250.dat file by the good Nextor Rom for Open MSX.
I changed my configuration from ext ide to ext nextor
The Emulator boot on Basic where I can see the Nextor rom is correctly loaded because it print on screen NEXTOR BASIC V 2.10

But neither of my hard-drive partitions are available ?
What must I do ?

There is a special version of the sunrise rom for use on emulators. Are you using that one?

EDIT : I just noticed, OpenMSX show the Error : hda Invalid command name

To use it i create the ide-Nextor.xml file as following in the extensions folder, renamed Nextor-2.1.0.SunriseIDE.emulators.ROM by ide-Nextor.rom and put it in the same folder.

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<!-- $Id: hardwareconfig.xml 12249 2011-08-27 19:51:09Z manuelbi $ -->
<!DOCTYPE msxconfig SYSTEM 'msxconfig2.dtd'>
<msxconfig>
  <info>
    <name>Sunrise ATA-IDE</name>
    <manufacturer>Sunrise</manufacturer>
    <code/>
    <release_year>1995</release_year>
    <description>ATA-IDE interface with hard disk.</description>
    <type>external hard disk</type>
  </info>
  <devices>
    <primary slot="any">
      <secondary slot="any">
        <SunriseIDE id="Sunrise IDE">
          <mem base="0x0000" size="0x10000"/>
          <rom>
            <filename>ide-Nextor.rom</filename>
            <sha1>97094d5ed206088c8f455801b7609e614c243562</sha1>
          </rom>
          <master>
            <type>IDEHD</type>
            <filename>Sunrise-IDE-Nextor.dmg</filename>
            <size>100</size>
          </master>
        </SunriseIDE>
      </secondary>
    </primary>
  </devices>
</msxconfig>

If you use Nekolauncher for Mac, you need to edit the extention_list.xml in the NekoLauncher openMSX.app/Contents/Ressources/ folder to add the text below.

	<dict>
		<key>Ext_extension</key>
		<string>ide-Nextor</string>
		<key>Ext_manufacturer</key>
		<string>Sunrise</string>
		<key>Ext_name</key>
		<string>Sunrise ATA-IDE</string>
		<key>Ext_type</key>
		<string>external hard disk</string>
		<key>Ext_year</key>
		<string>1995</string>
		<key>Ext_icon</key>
		<string>14</string>
	</dict>

Insert this text between the part for the sunrise IDE and Konami_EC-702 like this:

	<dict>
		<key>Ext_extension</key>
		<string>ide</string>
		<key>Ext_manufacturer</key>
		<string>Sunrise</string>
		<key>Ext_name</key>
		<string>Sunrise ATA-IDE</string>
		<key>Ext_type</key>
		<string>external hard disk</string>
		<key>Ext_year</key>
		<string>1995</string>
		<key>Ext_icon</key>
		<string>14</string>
	</dict>
	<dict>
		<key>Ext_extension</key>
		<string>ide-Nextor</string>
		<key>Ext_manufacturer</key>
