OpenMSX and BlueMSX seem to badly play the fast pitch effect. It sounds like old seventies sci-fi movies computer glitches instead of the right FX. WebMSX and real msx1 hardware play it properly...

Good catch! At least for openMSX you could create aan issue on github and the devs could pick it up (and seeing it works fine in webMSX a fix might be easy).

Can you please share a test ROM with that music (that demonstrates the issue), so we can debug this?

Thanks!

The issue was solved on openMSX github page: it is an arkos ROM player related issue. To avoid this (and other apparently random bugs) it's enough to clear (filling of 0 value) the RAM buffer arkos reserve. And all works fine!

Yeah, so it was a bug in the MSX software: it assumes RAM is initialized with a certain value (0 in this case). That's never a good idea.

I've updated the topic title to reflect the outcome of this issue. Smile

Thank you! I've reported all the issue to Thargan and he told me that he will put a note in arkos tracker documentation about the buffer clearing (someone had already reported it to him so he already knew) so for the future it would not occour again
