Hi! just curious, is SCC/SCC+ emulation working in OpenMSX?
I ask this, because whenever I try a Cartdrige with SCC or SCC+ I get no sound in OpenMSX. The same cartridges work just fine (with SCC sound) on BlueMSX.
One example is Pippols with SCC+ (Pippols (1985)(Konami)[SCC+][RC-729].rom)

SCC/SCC+ emulation should works just fine with openMSX.
But you have to manually add the extension (for example in the 2nd cartridge slot).

What is the SHA1 checksum? Several games from Konami game collection are badly converted to Rom. The sound works on emulator but not on real hardware. You can check it on this list:

I did add the extension, although it is supposed to be included in the cartridge, so it shouldn't be neccessary to do
that, it doesn't work either way.

Pippols (1985)(Konami)[a][SCC+][RC-729].rom : 9293403C3811B667D21408F4D670B21373EA333E

Pippols (1985)(Konami)[SCC+][RC-729].rom: 8927B9AA770195F255E4E0E143F89BFE93353022

neither one works in OpenMSX (They run, but no sound), but they work just fine in BlueMSX

Edit: these two appear in the link provided, but , like I said, they do work in BlueMSX.

It does not work in openMSX because openMSX does not have support for these SCC+ roms. See this thread (9 years ago!)

https://www.msx.org/forum/msx-talk/openmsx/scc-don-t-work-sc...

And indeed, it works in blueMSX because blueMSX coders have made a choice different from openMSX approach.

These ROM conversions aren't realistic. They would only work if loaded in the RAM of an SCC+ cartridge, i.e. the Konami Sound Cartridge which came with SD Snatcher and Snatcher. Or maybe you even need an expanded one, not sure.

These games were released on disk, on the Konami Game Collection and work fine when you run them with the Snatcher Sound Cartridge inserted like on real MSX.

For normal SCC ROMs no extension is needed (like on real MSX), the SCC comes with the mapper type.

9293403C3811B667D21408F4D670B21373EA333E -> Bad dump (No SCC sound on real hardware)
8927B9AA770195F255E4E0E143F89BFE93353022 -> Bad dump (No SCC sound on real hardware, trimmed)

8bfaf502b1f5d737dc9ba7957a67eeb815123c74 -> Works
b26991db469957c79858e24fc1514f0114e09747 -> Works

So it's normal that there is no sound on OpenMSX with your versions. OpenMSX emulates the hardware better than blueMSX.

But I have tried the SCC (not SCC+) versions as well, and they still do not work...
(not Pippols, but othr games with SCC).
I'm gonna search for those specific ROMs.
Edit: I found another Pippols version with SCC that works, altohugh it doesn't match any of the hashes mentioned.
Edit 2: So, I guess it's just a matter of finding the correct ROM version.

Thanks for your help, guys!

SCC sound works on SCC+ but not the other way around.

And, strangely enough, the version that works on OpenMSX (and on fMSX, though with a few graphic glitches) doesn't work on BlueMSX...

The problem with OpenMSX is the selection of the mapper which is too rigid (we can't select SCC+ for its own Rom, nor DOS mapper, etc, for example), and Catapult which doesn't always put the Roms where we want.
