@gdx how is that a problem? Or can you elaborate a bit on what you mean? You can run things in openMSX as you can run them on a real MSX. That's the goal...
Catapult doesn't know where ROMs are, because it only controls openMSX. It has no idea. So it doesn't put ROMs somewhere. But perhaps I misunderstood what you meant. Please clarify and correct me.
The problem with Catapult is that it does not allow us to put an extension in the slot we want. When we select an extension, it is placed in the first free slot without taking into account the cartridge slots of the emulated MSX. So we cannot debug with a configuration close to a real configuration. There are also games that needs SCC in a specific slot.
About SCC+, there are flash-cartridges that support SCC+ sound. We cannot emulate them because when we select SCC+ mapper, this is a Sound Cartridge that is emulated.
Moreover, we cannot choose the size of the flash-cartridges.
You have to create a machine for slot selection editing the xml.

Correct. Use the OSD menu for that.

Can you give an example of such a flash cartridge?

See above.
Flash cartridges from Popolon and the SCC Alliance for example. (I forgot to mention that this has no relation to catapult, it's just a request for OpenMSX.)
But you can just use the Popolon cartridge right? And load something in it like on the real MSX.
If you want several sizes, just copy the xml file and change the size.
Flash-ROM ID changes depending on the size and brand.
Ah, looks like we emulate the Popolon Sound Cartridge, but not a flash cartridge of Popolon. (Which seems to be a Konami Sound Cartridge with 2MB RAM.)
If you want to emulate a flash cartridge that isn't an extension yet, it must be added. For that we need the details, of course.
