Hello there
Are there any plans to add Franky support into the OCM core by HRA! and CARO?
I mean for the Master System VDP only, as the PSG/CPU part is already there

Athough I have nothing to do with OCM development I think I can reply your question: No there are no plans and there is not enough free gates to implement anything like this.
Not enought gates? Do you mean Bill?
No, seriusly, the OCM is NOT only that little blue box: you can load and run the OCM core on other FPGA-based boards that use the Cyclone chips, souch as the Altera DE1.
So THERE ARE as many gates as your hardware device has (but only ONE gates is evil)
id say yes there is enough space, with smart design
Hmm, first version of the OCM only had MSX1 support. I guess you should have enough space for MSX1+ Sega Mode 4 (Sega VDP support MSX1 screen modes), instead of full MSX2 VDP support.
I see the OCM core as a great place for Franky extension: we're just talking about an additional VDP wich I believe is implemented in the Franky in FPGA. A little VDP and hundred of software tittles in our MSX!
Is Franky an open-source project?

Franky uses real SMS VDPs....
Why bother? People may just as well emulate Sega Master System directly.

Except, it wouldn't be an MSX anymore.
Also, Franky can't run all Sega games out of the box either; they need to be converted.
It's possible to convert them on the fly. Just like ExecROM does with some .ROM files.
Sometimes a map file or something would be needed, but that way would allow ppl to directly run .sms files inside dos:
c:>execsms moonwalk.sms
- loading [##########] 100%
- Patching file [##########] 100%
- Applying cool colors [########--] 83%
