They can count me in too.
Maybe it can be a happy wedding with Cymbos.
For the French MSX fans, I've just posted the news on MSX Café :
Impressive! Is it real? Finally is AVAILABLE??? If it's real... I WANT ONE NOW!
It is indeed real. It is the new prototype that I referenced in this topic: www.msx.org/forumtopic6327p30.html
Note that the MSXDOS2 in the OCM has been patched to support FAT16. You can put a FAT16 SD/MMC card into the SD/MMC reader and directly boot from it, withouth first having to load a FAT16 driver. This is really cool. So you do not have to make any FAT12 partition. And it is compatible with MegaSCSI so powerfull tools like fdemu work as well.
As for the sound: it may not be clear from the translated message but the OCM (at least, the ESE-PLD prototype) has standard:
1) A PSG
2) An FM-PAC
3) A SCC+
Furthermore, the prototype can also emulate various megarom mappers. E.g. you can load a megarom image into the memory and then boot it. Just like in an MSX emulator. So you can put copies of al your own megaroms on the SD/MMC card and play all your games without ever having to switch cartridges again. Megaroms that require an SCC (like nemesis2) will in such case work automagically with the build-in SCC+ logic.
Kind regards,
Alex
Thanks, Alex, for these precisions.
What concerns the sound, Babelfish is somewhat clearer :
"* Sound output
The FM sound source which of course, originally is not included in MSX2 standard (the MSX-MUSIC interchangeability) it builds in the PSG sound source which becomes the basis, does not pour FM-PAC in the slot and 2 the 㦠pulls out the charm of the FM sound source corresponding software freely. Furthermore the individual extended WAVE sound source is loaded and the various music data of MSX are application possible. Furthermore, the sound source of MSX is monaural specification, but, the voice response port directing to future, has become stereo specification. "
I was asking me why the translators are speaking about 'enhancing WAVE sound' or 'extended WAVE sound' .... Indeed, it's the definition of SCC+ !
When will this great device be available for reservation on the Basix website, for us europeans?!
[edit]
I've been looking at the pics in the D4 enterprise website, but can't find the PS/2 connector they keep referring to, to plug in a keyboard. Can anyboy find it and point me to it?!
[/edit]
I think it is that small connector near yellow cinch but I am not shure...
Can I ask You will it be avaible for Europe??? Why do not sell it worldwide??? Or will they have any dealer for EU? Will be avaible after first 5000 more maschines???
So what about sound is there PSG or not or just send sound via DAC as wave or something like that.
It has very nice plast-case design.Blue is my favourite colour...
The connector near the yellow cinch would be the svhs connector (I guess), since it's between the composite video and VGA connector. The only location I can think of which is not clearly visible, is the other side of the VGA connector (near the corner of the box) On the other far end corner, there is already what seems to be a power supply connector.
Last time the japanese tried to get enough reservations, they did japan only, and a little later Basix opened a page for european reservations.
In the end there were about 3000 out of 5000 reservations total, if my memory serves me right. Lets hope it turns out better this time.
As I understand from Alex (Wulms) it should have PSG, FM and SCC music.
Matej: dealer=Bazix, no 5000 preorders required, sound: psg, fmpac, scc+
More MSX fans should be interested by this MSX2 One Chip, because ... it's a MSX2 !
Most of critics about the first reservations concerned the fact that it was 'only' a MSX1 One Chip, with some additions.
As you know, MSX2 is really an improvement by comparison with MSX1 what concerns the graphical capabilities and the memory management.
No this is the aleste computer from russia,
or a zip drive for msx
No, poke, you can now dream about an Aleste One Chip !
