What should the one chip MSX look like?

I think it should be pink, just like my gameboy. With a very big msx-logo on it. And it should run for ages on just 2 batteries LOL! And without display, so everybody can choose the keyboard, display and whatever that they like most.

Heh, you're the man sjoerd! ^_^. Soundin' good ;p. Although without display... hmmz hmmz I doubt that will make it any cheaper. A display requires a fast bus, I don't think you can pipe that through a simple USB (2), so it would actually add to the cost of the thing.

I think however a too complete solution including stuff like keyboard etc. might make things more expensive, and therefore perhaps not be feasible in a $100 device. I personally think they will take a thorough look at touch screens, and maybe even voice recognition, and indeed, a keyboard through the usb port. Ahwell, we'll see.

We'll see is a way to go, but euhm.. the MSX Association is keeping an eye on us right here. So, if there are interesting suggestions they will read it (or we can pass them through).. think about it Wink

What about a small fold-up system with a connection for a OLED screen?
Easy does it! Roll up the OLED, fold up the MSX and put them in your inside pocket! (right over your heart ^_^)

Although it would be cool, it will probably not fit into the $100 plans. :/

Depending on the timeframe... AFAIK OLED technology is much cheaper in terms of batteries, and some companies are putting big $$$ behind it. I'm not a fan of LCD you know Tongue

Well, alternatives to LCD are arriving soon. Maybe they're in time to be implemented in the one-chipper Wink

IMHO, MSX_NT system should look like this:

You have a Mobile Phone with an integrated MSX processor in it.
This mobile phone should have TV, VGA and Keyboard Outputs

Then you have a Tablet PC Docking station that requires the MSX processor
to work. Then you immediately have a wireless MSX TabletPC.

Then you plug the tablet PC into your Tower Docking station so that can you
expand it even more!

Crazy idea, or Bill Gates is already planning on it right now?

And as far as cost is concerned, you could work with the phone, your TV and
a keyboard with just 100$...

Dimitris.
