I know Cas' HD stopped working and he couldn't get the data back. How many people have tried retrieving the data from the HD and how come they -apparently- failed to do so? It's a pity isn't it?

Could someone please shed a light on this...

you mean a harddisk crash??

The HD crashes I 'enjoined' in the past allowed me to backup the contents in the HD's last breath .. now and then they work for a day orso ..

Well, the story with Coredump seems to be the coder indeed had a HD crash. He did have a backup, but it would set him back in time so much, he couldn't get himself motivated again to start from that point. I wonder if the HD on which the data is stored, is still there......

Will we ever see Coredump? I don't believe it.....

I agree, CoreDump won't be finished. Still, I wonder how many people have tried to help Cas to get the data from his defunct HD.

Perhaps it's a good idea to compile a list of never released games (on MSX that is).

1. CoreDump
2. Break Shot
3. Sim City
4. Doetinchem

Funny, you know about Doetinchem....I believe Sander Wubbels only did some digi's for that game.....It didn't really come to any coding, I believe Smile

It isn't even a proper HD crash... the 'motor' doesn't work anymore, so the HD isn't spinning. All data should still be on the disk.

Ha. So it should be possible somehow to retrieve the data. However, I still think Cas would not finish the game, as its development is 3 years ago now.

Still, someone else could finish the game.
Data recovery companies charge per HD-size so they're really not that expensive in this case.

btw, you can add 'Final Future' to the list of never-finished MSX games Smile

BUT - there also was a backup of older sources. Maybe someone doesn't mind continuing those?

I know, it's not nice of me to think so. But I also believe Cas wasn't that motivated at all anymore to finish it....So I don't think he put that much effort in retrieving the data.....
