Hi,

I've played Parsec on the TI99/4 years ago and would like
to ask experts here if similar game existed on the MSX?

It was a game I enjoyed in my youth.
I rather play it on real hardware.

regards
yl

Hello! Smile Maybe this is not what you are looking for, but as these Nemesis games; Nemesis, Nemesis 2, Salamander and Nemesis 3; are late descendants of Scramble (Super Cobra on MSX) I´ll list them here, though they have lots of collectable "power-ups", but they all have lost their ability to fill´er up.... anyway, they all still have laser as power-up... Wink

And then there is that silly nemesis-parody game Parodius (never released in Europe)

There are some other mid-eighties horizontal scrolling space shooters, maybe someone else remembers their names...

"Adonis" - a small but somehow enjoyable Gradius clone (only 16 KBytes). Too bad all versions I found got locked at stage 2. Sad

Yep , thanks all.
The Parsec I remember had this amazing laser and sound. When the laser overheats,
your ship explodes like fireworks. No other games I've played does that.
Someone should clone it.

The voices were quite impressive too; but there's no game in MSX close enough to Parsec, all of them are classic horizontal shmups or defender clones.

Haven´t never played PARSEC, just looked it on youtube sometimes and must say it looks and feels VERY GOOD GAME! Even without that voice! "Gas station" tunnel is a neat idea!!!!

I´ll stand up for cloning it for MSX! Smile

In those videos it looks like there are flashing spikes/towers in background which cycle in different colours and looks like they won´t colourclash other background. Is this same on real TI-99/4A, Lak? It´s a nice effect! Smile

I´m afraid there is not even Defender on MSX.... Crying Just that Desolator, which is nice for few games, but even the levels will vary, it gets dull soon, as there are no humans to rescue.

I guess that you would like the game Smile. Seems boring at first; but quickly gets your attention with its extremely simple approach. You're always facing waves of different alien ships, everyone has its own attacking pattern, that you must destroy with precise shooting.

Being a Ti-99/4A, the smooth scroll of the scenary is pretty impressive.

The strange color effects are based simply on the well-known NTSC color artifacts. The scenary takes profit of this with simple designs that appears to be colored.

On MSX there's not only Desolator, take a look at Time Bandits. A pretty good Defender clone.

Of course!!! Time Bandits!! How I forgot one of my very first MSX games.... it´s a very good and challenging game! Smile

(and actually a clone of older Atari 2600 game, which looks much better indeed, maybe someone could clone it again, please?Wink)

It´s different than Parsec though, but I recommend you to try it, Lak! Smile You have to protect your two supply trucks in different time zones, and must re-arm by landing on the trucks and re-fuel from passing red plane. Smile

Thanks all for the hints.
I've only used the OCM clone MSX2+ (DE1) for only 2 weeks.
It'd be great if there is a contest for cloned games esp. Parsec. I'd surely contribute US$$.
Good clones ,just to name a few, are choplifter and loderunner.
Desolator and Rambo III (dsk) can't be played on my DE1 ocm. It bombs after tiltle screen I think it's for MSX2.
Any thoughts ?
