yeah, those animations are pixels while the character animations are sprites. so there's a 2 way construction. the pause should not have happened. did konami finally release some "sloppy" code?

well, if I'm not mistaken, Snatcher, being a port from a different system, was much more sloppy....
but anyway, reading Guyver's explanation posted by J-War, that seems sloppy already.

I guess they made the MSX1 version first, then the MSX2 one and did a poor job on optimizing, but that's just guessing.

Konami recopies all tools, weapons, soul stones, mummy coffins, traps, etc. each time something in either of those areas is changed. With the MSX1 version it's hardly noticeable, but with the MSX2 version it is with the slowdown.

This time, the code is simply 'ported' from pattern to bitmap screen.

if I see what people can do with MSX nowadays, technically, I say yes.
but to achieve the same level of game-experience or gameplay, that's quite a different story.

King's Valley 2 is a game that always ends with high values in auctions (specially the MSX2 version, not sold outside Japan). It seems that the MSX community considers KV2 a very good game. Curiously it never was released for other systems, contrarily to other Konami MSX productions.

And yes, the MSX1 version rocks with those shining stones!

And also when you pick up other weapons (hammers, drills,...)! What a shame! Never before noticed those things while playing the MSX2 version!

It would be nice an updated MSX2 version without those interruptions in gameplay. IMHO the graphics (palette) are better in RC761.
