make msx games on sc8 that's coowl
why would that be "coowl"?
I think, that this looks like very nice update, but does this really need 7MHz?
What kind of CD-support this has? MegaSCSI, Novaxis, ATA-IDE, Bert?

de use of a lot of collors.
It make's the game look better!
and it is also a limitation... not enough screens etc etc...

NYYRIKKI: It needs 7Mhz for CD playing + smooth scrolling, other than that, it will work on a normal MSX2 (just disable CD playing and smooth scroll and it will work on a regular MSX2)
7Mhz is needed because it has to check if the cd-track has stopped playing or not (so it can be looped), and sometimes the cd-player will take a while to answer (hardware fault, happens even on PCs)... this in combination with smooth scroll would flicker the game on 3.5Mhz
Pitpan: well, there's no way you can improve the game-colors on MSX1, so that's an improved version for MSX2... the game ALREADY HAS SMOOTH SCROLL, and the final version will have it too. You must misunderstood something on the site... and if you dont want it, sorry, your loss
And yes, it is an improvement, the game really comes to life with all those features! (at least in my humble opinion!)
As for the game on SC8, that would require the game to be completly re-written, not adapted, so no way of doing that (even because SC8 sprite colors are awful, and SC8 is slow as hell)
And I think the game works on MegaSCSI also (not sure about that) - for sure it works on IDE
About the scroll, I had the feeling that it wasn't to be included after reading the articles in the site. They clearly state that smooth horizontal scroll was a problem and won't be included in the final version. Surely I missunderstood it. Sorry about that.
About the colours, I don't think that "more colours" make a game "better". Indeed, I do love the cyan coloured viking. It has the look of an armour and I guess that this is exactly what Konami pretended.
A game made in SCREEN 8 can be visually disgusting, and a monochrome game can be impressive. Design is the key factor rather than "colour count". IMHO, number of colours is not a valid rule of thumb about graphical quality.
By the way, I read about the horizontal scroll here:
http://www.caetano.eng.br/MSXPage/KMG/?p=4
The top most title says: Por que o suporte a Scroll Fino foi abandonado? (por Daniel Caetano)
My Portuguese is not very accurate, but I would translate the sentece to English as the following: "Why the smooth scroll support was abandoned? (by Daniel Caetano).
If finally it has been included, congratulations. Apparently it was a tricky thing to do.
Yes, the scroll was rather problematic, Daniel Caetano had given up on it when he made the site, but last month he had a crazy idea and made it work (the news about the scroll should be somewhere on the right part of the site, on the main page)
When you use sc8 never use photo grapix but draw them like a sc4 or sc5 gamen and use more colors.
it's coowl
or a sc5 whit 32 collors will be beter
