I can be happy for just straight port for MSX-1, but if it just can be made, I still wish a lot that please give more colour to player using sprites. Smile I think there´s NO need to use sprites for enemies, as they are colourful enough and masking player software sprites with hardware sprites give Turrican "That MSX Look"! Big smile Fudeba, by the way, if you use sprites for player, do you mean, that you remove player´s software sprites and use ONLY hardware sprites for player?

Another wish is, if fudeba ports Turrican, surely there are some graphicians who can make new fantastic SCREEN 2 title screen! Smile (to give more "That MSX Look"!Wink) Here´s one idea, used in just ONE msx-1 game so far: I have forgot the name of that technique, but it is used in MSX-DEV game "Sudoku"´s title screen to give it "more" colours. That way we could get nice "16 bit" titlescreen! (well not really...Wink) But normal screen 2 titlescreen is just fine for me! Smile

Tonigalvez, yes, some levels of Amiga´s Turrican are without MUSIC, but indeed there are scary sounds, those levels are NOT silent. Smile So I guess we should call those scary sounds as music track? Wink Maybe those scary sounds can be imitated with tracker? Like when Venom laughs at the end of Nemesis 3.

And last wish is, that please use FM-PAC, so you can get closer to Amiga original, and what can be more satisfying than to hear "Amiga like" music on MSX-1? Wink

Do we need to recruit Ronald van der Putten for the speech? Wink

Perhaps by then I may have succeeded in making an xdev tracker with which I can control MSX chips via NoWind.
I hail the initiative!
If you need people to test it you can count on me.

Must say I didn´t recognise his voice from Amiga version! TongueTongue

Maybe one can "rip" original speech from amiga? Wink

*If* I succeed, then it'll prolly work just because it does, and I'd release it for everyone. It won't really have practical restrictions, so if someone is naive enough to cook the cpu because of all the events that occur at the same time, then he has my blessing.. Tongue I prolly do a mod-style layout. I'm thinking about something like: "note | instrument | volume | control | effect | effect param" and then dozens of tracks one can assign to a musical channel. Like, if you have 2 trackerchannels both outputting to FM-PAC channel 1, then the most-right column gets priority. Why is this handy?

C 4 G 4
C 4
C 4
C 4
C 4 G#4
C 4
C 4
C 4

will result in hearing/getting:

G 4
C 4
C 4
C 4
G#4
C 4
C 4
C 4

Advantage is that there is a certain degree of non-destructive editing. You can transpose the right channel to D 4 and D#4 with a transpose event and the left channel to G#3 with another transpose event. In traditional trackers you'd have to input these notes all over again. Same story for volume control, instrument changes etc.

The 'control' step would btw just be like a custom volume envelope, pitch envelope, etc. There's something similar in Vortex Tracker iirc, but being named differently.

Hi,

I can be happy for just straight port for MSX-1, but if it just can be made, I still wish a lot that please give more colour to player using sprites. Smile I think there´s NO need to use sprites for enemies, as they are colourful enough and masking player software sprites with hardware sprites give Turrican "That MSX Look"! Big smile Fudeba, by the way, if you use sprites for player, do you mean, that you remove player´s software sprites and use ONLY hardware sprites for player?

Maybe yes, maybe not. Killing completely the software sprite always has advantages (releasing some CPU power), but it may cause some drawbacks also, if the program has side-effects on plotting the main character (this is quite uncommon, though).

Anyway, I like the idea of removing the "OR" part of the shape plot, and leave the AND part alone. This way, I'll have a black body in the place the character would be and then it is possible to place some colored sprites and have a nice sprite with more colors *and* nice black border lines.

Smile

This can be done, but if possible I would add a more colorfull screen 5 or screen 8 opening, when running on MSX2 with enough VRAM. Smile
