Since not many speedruns have been recorded for the MSX platform I gave it a try with one of my favorite games.

With nowadays emulators we can make great speedruns. Both Meisei and openMSX now have reverse so it's time to start this fairly new thing for the MSX scene.

Konami's - Vampire Killer (castlevania) TAS Speed Run (Stage 1 through 9)

Konami's - Vampire Killer (castlevania) TAS Speed Run (Stage 10 through 17)

Konami's - Vampire Killer (castlevania) TAS Speed Run (Stage 18)

Actual play time is somewhat under 23 minutes.

If you think you can do it better show me!

To start download the newest openMSX build for your platform @ http://openmsx.fixato.net/ and start experimenting with the 'reverse' functions.

Ask me if you have any questions.

Nice initiative, Vampier! LOL! And nice speedrun, too (watching the stage 1-9 vid)

It would be a good idea though to indicate how it was done: for example an often made distinction for speedruns is whether a number of 'perfect' sequences were stitched together (like when you use a 'rewind' feature in emulator), or whether everything was done in one go. No need to pick one method over the other, better regard as side-by-side 'categories in a competition'. But it's good to know what approach was used.

Also game settings matter: 50/60 Hz., easy/hard skill level etc. Probably the best place to indicate method/settings is a few frames at start/end of video (because that always comes with the video, so wouldn't need a separate info page / database elsewhere to find out how it was done). 2nd best: a dedicated webpage listing the various speedruns that have been recorded, how they were done, and where to find them (volunteers anyone? Wink ).

M.A.S.K. III - VENOM Strikes Back in ~9:30
(I could've done it quicker though by using a portal/penetrator glitch)

I kid, I kid. Smile It's extremely interesting to see, in many ways. Still, the gameplay looks 'funny' to me, if you know what I mean. And the new youtube system suxx.

I tried to do better by not getting the arrow and the staff, but that makes beating the boney dragon much harder and takes too much time then to improve the time... Good job Vampier! Smile I dare someone to make a better time for beating world 1.
