Is there really a game named 3D-Golf for the MSX2+, by Pack-in-Video?

Is there really a game named 3D-Gold for the MSX2+, by Pack-in-Video? Both the MSX FAQ and the Wikipedia list of MSX games mention it, but the Generation-MSX website has no info whatsoever on this game. I could not find any other info on this game googling around too.

Well, the game called The Golf 3D isn't listed on Tagoo or the Japanese Wikipedia list of MSX games which is much longer than the English one. The game name isn't listed under another company and Pack-in-Video doesn't appear to have a title which closely resembles The Golf 3d (other than The Golf).

It could be missing on the lists (which is impossible to rule out)...

There is only a 'The Golf' by Pack-in-Video and it supports MSX2+ (see the covers I just uploaded: www.generation-msx.nl/msxdb/softwareinfo/1121).

Damn typo. I meant "3D-Golf". But the correct name should even be "The Golf 3D". Note-to-self: never send questions that late in the night again. Smile

@Sylvester

Yep, but:

1) It's "The Golf", not "The Golf 3D" mentioned on Wikipedia and MSX FAQ

2) I couldn't find any MSX2+ features on "The Golf"...

3) The generation-MSX info on this game seems not to be accurate. It lists the game as a megarom, but clearly the game is a single-disk game. It seems they sold a separate disk with extra stages called "The Golf Course Collection" though, which many seem to believe is the 2nd disk of the game because the cracked version seems to had both distributed together.

@sd_snatcher:

1) The faq says: "The Golf: 3D golf game using screen 12". The is no mention of The Golf 3D and I think somebody copied the text wrong of the FAQ and pasted it into wikipedia
2) The box has a MSX2 and MSX2+ logo, also the text on the back mentions MSX2+ but also FM, maybe it only uses the FM chip of the MSX2+ and is the FAQ wrong??
3) Changed it, the tagoo page mentions a disk+/ROM (http://msx.jpn.org/tagoo/s_check.cgi?LINE=1125), but maybe they are wrong.

Does somebody know how this game works? After starting the disk I get a loading screen and then a green screen with some japanese text on it. I thought I should enter the Golf Course disk, but nothing happens when pressing the spacebar.

1: It looks like so
2: Who wrote that info on the MSX-FAQ? He must know if there's such feature
3: Maybe there's a ROM version we don't know about

You must insert an empty disk, then the game will create an savegame disk on it.

Someone could translate this game, it looks a very good one.

PS: Whoever fixed the typo on the subject: thanks! :)

Yes, it's a good game. My brother has the original with one single disk and the logo of msx2+.

I wrote an article of all golf games in the magazine Call MSX number 3 (spanish) and Call MSX Special Bussum 2005 (english).

With katakana knowledge you can go on with no problems. The golf game which is necessary translate is Membership Golf form Sony/Klon. It's a slow but colouring game like Playball 3, the same company.

IIRC the japanese wikipedia list of msx games mentions a rom version of The Golf was released in 1988 and the disk version was released in 1989. The name was listed in katakana if you want to check it for yourself.

A little late (9 years!) but I just posted a translation guide for this amazing game:
