Illusion City? Hmm...I'll give that a try tonight.

I was thinking about the msx joystick pinout, and maybe possible to use a mouse from the X68000 or FM-Towns. Can anyone confirm this?Probably not! Be sure you check the pinout and ensure voltages etc match exactly. I don't know anything about the other two systems, but generally mice(?) are not compatible between old 8bitters, even when the joysticks are...

I think that the 'arcade' joystick has a switch to be used on most Japanese computers and consoles. I don't know about the mouse ...

I remember that you can played with the mouse with Nemesis.
When you start your computer, push the two buttons down before the MSX boot and release it when you see the konami logo.
It worked with my MNS 8235 (philipps) but not with BlueMSX.

I dreamed this or not ? If someone can try.

The joystick emulation in mice was not implemented in all mice. The most popular ones, the Sony MOS-1 and the Philips SBC-3810 do feature it.
It is also emulated in openMSX.

It works on any software that uses joystick. It is enabled by pressing both buttons when starting up the MSX or when plugging in the mouse (so, both buttons must be pressed when the mouse itself gets powered).

Playing Aleste 2 like this is quite a joy (but you should set the speed to a higher level).

Construction Craze has official mouse support, so not the 'two-butons-press-at-start'

Grtz,
