Hello guys, I need your help with Blaster Burn #2 (Disc Station 10, disk 2).

I want to beat this game, but it always freezes during stage 2, around the same spot. I'm using openMSX and even tried BlueMSX. I've downloaded the disk image from many different sources, but the same thing happens.

*bump*

Would be nice to have a working dump of this disk as the Internet is filled with the same faulty one. Also seems to be the case with Disc Station #23 disk 1 with its Northern Quarters demo.

Yes, it's very hard if you try to play it fresh, because your ship is so slow and weak, and you don't have enough "Hit" or "Power" points to upgrade much. The game expects that you have a save file from the previous episode where your ship has already been upgraded some and play Blaster Burn #2 using that save (you likely already knew about this). Here's the save that most Blaster Burn #2 disk images from online (the faulty ones) comes with:

Your ship is level 11 with bunch of upgrades. When played fresh, you only have enough "Hit" points to level up to level 3 (=get 2 stat boosts) and enough "Power" points to buy either the "Beam4" or "Engine5" upgrade. I highly recommend getting the "Engine5" upgrade for more movement speed and from the Level Up menu choose the top-most option (通常弾の強さ = Normal Bullet Strength) for more powerful shots. Your chances of survival is much better with that setup, if you have to play Blaster Burn #2 from fresh.

Thanks to the help of Discode, I now finally have a working disk image of Blaster Burn #2. Smile Didn't think it would take this long, but better late than never.
