Yes... you are right Manuel... absolutely right ... I am sorry about that .... I should explain what happened with me so others will save time and efforts.

The problem I faced was because I don't know how run PlaySoniq SEGA games by using MEGA FLASH ROM cartridge.

For those who doesn't know, what I did is the following:

1- Unzipped PS-Files, PSQTOOLS and tunzip in SD card
2- Inside the PSQTOOLS folder I found the most important tool which is SMSLOAD.COM
3- Inside the PSQTOOLS folder, I created the ROM folders for SMS and because I am using MEGA FLASH ROM, I have to create so many folders because I shouldn't exceed 254 items in each folder
4- Now, the most important thing is to make a copy of SMSLOAD.COM inside each ROM folder
5- Now, to start any game, I will go inside the ROM folder that the game located and press letter Q
6- Then I am in MSX-DOS and I should type the following command: smsload sonic.sms and press enter
7- sonic.sms is the ROM name (Aleste.sms , RAMBO2.sms etc..) and I should change the ROM names as it should not include spaces between words, for example, RAMBO 2.sms should be RAMBO2.sms and so on

Important Note: It will be better to use 2 TVs (monitors) one for MSX computer and the other one to plug the cables of PlaySoniq. Otherwise, I mean if you are using the same TV, make sure when you press enter for the ROM (step # 6) you change the AV-input in your TV. That's why it will be better to use 2 TVs.

This is my experience with the great PlaySoniq cartridge and thanks to syn, Manuel and Meits for helping me on how to start.

Also, thanks to Sander from supersoniqs.com for his amazing after-sale service and guidance.

Finally, PlaySoniq cartridge .... is something must to have no doubt, great cartridge, hundreds and hundreds of SEGA great games to be run with MSX spirit .... oooh my god ... amazing experience.

I LOVE PlaySoniq Cartridge, I LOVE SEGA .... and before all that ... I LOVE MSX

Regards,

sniper

Thank you for your support and explanation. Sometimes we forget that for new users with little or no experience need to learn a lot to use things like MSX-DOS and custom made hardware and tooling. Great to see you succeeded.

And now we need some pictures for proof of course Wink

Happy msx-ing!

OK, some remarks: (Most are relevant if you get a bit more experience with MSX-DOS2)
- the limit of 254 items in a folder is not related to MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD. It's only a limitation of the Multi Mente program you can use to browse through your MSX-DOS 2 file system. As you are not using Multi Mente here to run the games, you can just as well ignore this limitation of Multi Mente.
- Instead of copying SMSLOAD.COM to everywhere, you can also put it in some specific folder and add this folder to the PATH environment variable, which you will have to set up in an AUTOEXEC.BAT file on your boot partition.
- As Meits explained, you could set up Multi Mente to associate the .SMS extension with SMSLOAD.COM. This way you can simply press enter on an SMS ROM file in Multi Mente and it will run SMSLOAD.COM with the file as argument. In that case, you do have take Multi Mente's 254 files per folder into account, of course.

For what it's worth, a setup with two SCART-to-HDMI adapters and an HDMI switcher works quite well with a single TV.

You run smsload, then press a button on the HDMI switcher and there's the Sega video output.

You are most welcome Sander ... you deserved that.

For the pictures .... I am now doing the final touches on my personal MSX Home Studio and I will post the pictures soon .. so that's why I can't show pictures now.

@Manuel: As sniper is using megaflashrom and multi mente, he probably uses the romdisk. It's quite a hassle to change stuff there. I once went through that with mika and that took one whole evening of live chat Wink

@mfeingol: Technically you bought one switch too many. You could do with a scart switch and a scart to hdmi converter. Saves you some serious cash since those scart to hdmi converters aren't quite cheap.
It's quite an adventure to find the right scart to hdmi converter, as there are many and there are many that don't give the desired quality. And it's quite hard to find the right scart switch as most of them have just a couple of pins connected (and those are always the wrong ones) so it's important that all pins are connected. I found one and the fun is that it was the cheapest I could find Smile I did research by asking fellow users what they have and what the quality is and it paid out quite well Smile

sniper22477: Alternatively, I think in Multi Mente you can also press X on an SMS ROM file and then type SMSLOAD before it. Might be slightly more convenient.

(Though it’s also good to know how to execute programs from the MSX-DOS command line Smile.)

Meits:

Technically, yeah. But I don't have a SCART switch and they're hard to find around here in the states since nobody uses SCART here. Even Amazon is a bit sparse... The second SCART to HDMI converter was $40 and the HDMI switch was $3, so not a big deal.

Perhaps I should start a new thread, I am awaiting a Playsoniqs device, it has been assembled, and I am awaiting delivery. Which would be better to use with it? A MRSCC+SD or a Carnivore2? I have a 512k Sony FX1DJ MSX2+
