It's actually an MSX1 game, it's just a *very buggy* MSX1 game that won't run on any of the actual MSX1 systems it's been tested on. Wink

Don't know why it would've corrupted the file. I'd say try a different system configuration in your emulator, as maybe it just doesn't like the particular system you chose to emulate it on?

If it helps, I've been playing it on actual hardware, on my Panasonic FS-A1WX Japanese MSX2+. So I can confirm the rom should play on that system, at least.

No matter what system I select it keeps resetting. I am going to try to patch the rom again

Before flash it works but not english...after flash it is english but fails and it doesn't play the game and endlessly resets the emulator.

Don't know what to tell you, unfortunately! Maybe try a different rom dump of the game?

Foody,
You can play the game here:
http://www.file-hunter.com/MSX/ALifeM36Planet.html
and if you want, you can download that translated .ROM image by replacing .html wit .zip in that URL ;-) Then you can be sure you have the correct .ROM.

Wyrdwad, have you forgotten already? Tongue Once the ROM is patched with the English patch, the emulators guesses the mapper wrong, so one needs to manually select ASCII8KB mapper, in order to play the English-patched ROM in emulators.

Oh, that's right! I forgot because I used OPFX to write the rom to my megaflashrom cartridge, and it correctly registers as ASCII 8K without the need to specify.

Chalk one up for physical hardware, I guess! Wink

Hmm, openMSX detects the mapper type properly. Doesn't it for you?

WebMSX also detects the correct.ROM type after patching.

So the only one that doesn't is BlueMSX and AmiMSX?
