I was playing gryzor the other day and it inspired me to ask this question. Does anyone know why some konami titles have different titles then on other systems. Why is the game called gryzor, and not contra. Why vampire killer instead of castlevania. Why did they bother to call the shooter series nemesis for the non japanese countries? Why salamander and not life force. ect. Afaik they where all released on MSX first, so was the MSX the proving grounds for other systems?

I don't know the reason behind that, but I do think that Contra, Gradius and Salamander were all originally released as an arcade before being ported to other systems.
