For this particular game, I think BiFi once already analyzed the 64kB dump and concluded the mapper works via I/O ports. That means it needs a custom dump tool.

There is probably a way... (Thanks to tsjakoe and BiFi)... but it will be a bit laborious... ideally, you boot on a mass storage device with the cartridge inserted. And then you do this:

1. go to basic and type OUT 0,0
2. go back to DOS and use saverom.com to dump 32kB:
- SAVEROM BLOCK000.BIN
- Primary Slot: (type the slot where the ROM is located in)
- MegaROM (y/n): n
- Begin Address: 4000
- End Address: BFFF
3. go back to basic and type OUT 0,1
4. go back to DOS and use saverom.com to dump the next 32kB block:
- SAVEROM BLOCK001.BIN
- same parameters as above
3. go back to basic and type OUT 0,2
4. go back to DOS and use SAVEROM.BLOCK002.BIN using the same parameters
5. go back to basic and type OUT 0,3
6. go back to DOS and use SAVEROM.BLOCK003.BIN using the same parameters
7. keep on going like this, for all 255 blocks. Or, if you get really tired of it, do at least 64 blocks. Then we will have to assume the rest are all duplicates
8. when you're done, send me all the files you saved, and I'll reconstruct it into a single ROM file... and then implement support for it in openMSX.

Please make sure the number in the filename is matching the number you put behind the OUT instruction...

Do you also have the Group B cartridge?

Hello. I am from Greece. I remember elea. It was a company near center of Athens that used to sell msx software. This has to be a software regarding high school religion class. Would love to see that software.

If you have Carnivore2 you can insert it in slot 1 and 30-in-1 in slot 2, then have C2 start MSX default config, and go to basic. There was a basic tool that dumps the cart rom for you. Its name escapes me though. It is mentioned in these forums for sure. Very happy to hear one more Arabic rom is about to be added to the preservation library. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: This is the tool I had in mind:
http://bifi.msxnet.org/msxnet/utils/saverom

Thank you for the details. I will do that as soon as the cartridge arrives from the Saudi Arabia with my other stuff. The machine in Saudi Arabia don't have a floppy drive and no Carnivore2 or any other SD cartridge, so I will have to wait until my brother comes back with my stuff where the 30 in 1 group A is among them. But, I will make sure that the content is copied and uploaded one way or another even if I have to take out the chip.

Thanx for the procedure Manuel, I have Carnivore2 so, maybe I will be able to extract the data. As I said earlier, I have to wait for few weeks until my brother comes with stuff and then I will dump it.

Unfortunately, where I bought it, they had only this last cartridge of the 30 in 1 and it is group A. I will check around and see if anyone is willing to help with group B if I found one.

Best to dump first 2 blocks to check if the content has actually changed (no use dumping 255 blocks if the out instruction does not actually switch the bank).

Couldn't this be automated? It would be easy to write an OUT.COM utility. Aren't there any dump tools that take parameters from the command line?

with SHEM you have many commands for
Select Slots : CRTL Y , Target : 01 01 01 for slot 1
OUT port : CTRL > , out (pp),d Port = 00h , OUT (00),d Data = 00 , change this data for change block
save memory to files
Set adress : CTRL A , set 4000
Set block begin adress : CTRL B
Set adress : CTRL A , set BFFF
Set block end adress : CTRL K
Save block : CTRL S , SAVE:Filename = enter sample block 0 for out 0
