Hi,

I'm new to this forum and to MSX in general. I've recently aquired a broken Yamaha CX5M (with the SFG-01 FM module), repaired and refurbished it and it looks and works just fine now. However, I don't have the musical keyboard that goes with it, so I can't enjoy whatever the FM module has to offer.
From a lot of googling, I've learned that some tape or cartridge exists that contains some demos for the synthesizer. But I'm unable to find it anywhere. I've found all kinds of other ROMs for the device but not this particular one. All I've found are one or two images showing a cartridge with the product number LDR 02 that seems to be what I'm looking for.
Does anybody has an image of this (or some similar) cartridge or tape with the demo software on it? I would love to hear some tunes played by the FM module.

I was in the exact same situation as you, a few days ago.

It seems that the best solution is to use VGMPlay to play VGM files (rips from video games) on the CX5M. For that you need the MegaFlashRom SCC+ SD cartridge, and those files on the SD card. See : https://www.msxcartridgeshop.com/

A Carnivore2 will do as well. Anything that gives you Nextor DOS2 and some extra memory.

There’s a whole bunch of demo videos in this Youtube playlist.

Thanks. I do have a Mega ram mapper (...or whatever it's called). The VGMPlay project looks interesting, I'll have a look and see how it goes.

That VGMPlay thing works amazingly well! I can finally hear the synth module producing some great tunes.
