Does this football game of 1987 feature in any favourites list here? I have it as avatar for a reason :-)
It's not my all-time favourite game, but has been the football game which I was playing for years. The deflection system was outstanding for those days.

I've never heard of it, and even if soccer games aren't my cup of tea (I recognize that modern PES and FIFA are well made game series though), I'll go try it. Thanks for the recommendation. Smile

Funny, there doesn't seem to be a match day 1. Or is there with a different title?

Good Luck John :-).... Matchday II probably is the best football game ever published for the MSX. The deflection system introduced headers for example. In the mid-1990s the FIFA series appeared for other consoles, and with it a whole new experience of football games.

There is 'Matchday', but that one was never ported to the MSX. I think it was released for the Spectrum.

Talking generally about football games, Konami's Soccer of course is relevant. That game, now 32-years-old, is easy and fun and probably introduced football to the MSX.

I recall three other games that I have played:
- Emilio Butragueño Fútbol: That one introduced me to the Spanish language....
- Footballer of the Year: A Gremlin game, aimed at making a career as a player. It's not about full matches, but about having 2 or 3 opportunities per game to score goals.
- Míchel Futbol Master: which included skills training
