Update; Bifi reported that, v1.4 does not show anyone's face on openMSX under A1GT configuration. However, under real MSX (I have not heard which one), it displays Miller's face instead of blank or Campbell's! It's now even more strange.

It's interesting to know which real machine that was indeed.

Bifi told me that the real MSX he used was an A1GT. To add, he did not talk to anyone after loading the savegame until reaching Night Sight and see Miller's face.
I tried to reach Night Sight after talking to either of Campbell, Miller and Holly but on my environment I always see Campbell's face.

When I made this thread, I wasn't aware of the limitations on data and space when the translation was done back in the mid-1990's, as you and max_iwamoto have stated. Takamichi, your translation was a very well done effort. The reason I made this thread was because I was really impressed with Nekura_Hoka's translation of MG1, and was wondering if MG2 could be improved on. After looking at all three scripts (Original 1990 Japanese, 1997 Fan Translation, and 2006 Official Translation), it convinced me that it could be improved on. Some examples include the scene where Natasha dies. Originally, Snake said something about the ice melting between the east and west, rather than "Oh god, not yet, not yet...". Another example is near the end, Snake encounters Holly in the Escape Route, Holly took off her disguise and asked if it was all over. Snake responded that there was still one more job to do, and a few back and forths about how serious Snake was between him and Holly ensued.

I also noticed when Campbell gave you the 140.66 frequency, he originally told you to look at the back of the box for it, rather than outright giving it. I think I get why you did it, though. Just like with the Hanoi Hilton part, it probably would have confused first-time english-speaking players with what Campbell was talking about.

Well, just to prove there wasn't anything wrong with the original Japanese rom, here's a screencap from my latest playthrough.

I checked the Natasha dialogue, and yes entire "The ice between east and west is starting to melt. Natasha? This is the right time to walk over the ground.. stand on your life and taste it." is missing. It was either mistake, space saving or on intent. I remember being refuted this phrase doesn't make sense, American audience still didn't recognize the cold war was over or something like that.
And the missing dialogue between Snake and Holly in enemy costume is like this. ?s are unchanged from the original, though most of the applicable speeches aren't a question and ! or . is proper.
H "... It's all over. SNAKE?" S "No...I have one another thing to do" H "... I-t c-a-n-n-o-t b-e" S "It is... Holly?" H "SNAKE? Don't say you do it... on me?" S "...fu fu fu... shall I call you a limo?" H "...I'm relieved...That wasn't funny"
It indicates Holly is scared Snake is going to do something serious (murder?) on her but it was false alarm. I DO remember editing it for straightforward understanding after discussion. This conversation is very out of place, what Snake hinted/Holly imagined is not explained anywhere, and back in '90s game audience wasn't prepared for Kojima's all-time trademark; the meaningful meaninglessness.
The frequency on the box was, yes, deliberately changed. I didn't want people to try all 100 frequencies Wink

..I tried all frequencies... in both games.

By the way, how would one rate the retranslations found in MG/MG2 that were released on mobile / MGS3 Subsistence ?
