This happened to me under Linux aswell, workaround was to start it in the exact directory where it was located.

Like this:

mtn@traktator:~/msx/multipaint/multipaint_metal/application.linux64$ ./multipaint

Right, in Windows the current directory is usually the program directory when launched from the GUI. A few people ran into that when using my vgmrec.tcl script for openMSX as well. I think it will be reproducible on Windows by executing the editor on the command line from the root directory rather than the program directory?

Cool thanks, having a Mac a week, I guess there is only one directory to place programs. But I will check further.

Usually OSX only places the program itself in the program folder. You have to drag and drop the icons.bin file from the Multipaint folder into there.
And again, this seems to be a good oportunity to place a picture. (Sorry for that, I think a lot of readers with bad internet connection will doom me for doing this.)

I tried that, didn't work. I emailed Sir Tero. He told me to put it in the application folder too.

So I was so f@ckn pissed off at the Mac. I put the file in every folder, home, programs and in the package in every folder too. Then it worked lol. So I removed all but the program folder and still worked. Euuhhhhhhh.
Thanks all again! But why...?
